The chapter recently awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to seven graduating high school seniors.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter, is proud to serve the Pine Bluff community by promoting academic excellence among young high school women who plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The chapter recently awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to seven graduating high school seniors.


• Kalycya Hawkins, a Pine Bluff High School graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in agricultural business.


• Charion Linwood, a PBHS graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in chemistry education.


• Victoria Hughes, a PBHS graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in industrial technology.


• Kamarie Anderson, a Watson Chapel High School graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in biology.


• Daphne Dunn, a WCHS graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in biology.


• Morgan Gathen, a Warren High School graduate, received a $1,500 Academic Scholarship and plans to major in biology.


• Phylicia Dyer, a Dollarway High School graduate, received a $1,000 Book Scholarship and plans to major in criminal justice.


The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., addresses the major concerns of the world community.
