The Pine Bluff City Council of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will honor its Valentine Queen candidates during the annual Valentine Tea from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the home of Cindy Richardson in White Hall.

The Pine Bluff City Council of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will honor its Valentine Queen candidates during the annual Valentine Tea from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the home of Cindy Richardson in White Hall.


The local sorority includes a city council made up of two chapters, Xi Delta Beta and Delta Zeta. The Valentine candidates and the 2013-2014 Valentine Queen will be honored at the Beta Sigma Phi Ball, which will be held Saturday at the Pine Bluff Arsenal Officer’s Club.


The Valentine Queen candidates and their chapters are:


• Liz Lively — Xi Delta Beta Chapter. Lively has been a member of Xi Delta Beta since 2012 and currently holds the ritual of jewel degree. She currently serves her chapter’s executive board as vice president and Beta Sigma Phi’s City Council corresponding secretary. She serves on the chapter’s membership, ways and means and photography committees. She was chosen chapter and city council pledge of the year in 2013. Lively works full time as an administrative assistant for the CFO, COO, CNO and vice president of physician practice management for Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She resides in Pine Bluff and has been married to her husband Richard for 36 years. They have one son and daughter-in-law, James (Jimmy) and Jennifer Lively, along with one granddaughter, Savannah Christina Lively, all of Waipahu, HI. She also has a stepdaughter, Andrea Lively of Baltimore, Md. She serves as the benevolence and children’s ministry director for her church, Cross Roads Christian Fellowship. She is active in her community through Xi Delta Beta’s many service projects to assist families, schools, students and shelters including the Children’s Advocacy Center, The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Jefferson County Humane Society, Fuel for Success, Christmas Card Fund, Salvation Army Angel Tree, and the Hope Women’s Resource Center.


• Amanda Terry — Delta Zeta Chapter. Terry has been a member of Delta Zeta since 2009 and currently holds the exemplar degree. She is one of the founding members of Delta Zeta. She currently serves on the executive board for her chapter as president. She has served as city council representative and secretary as well as vice president and corresponding secretary for her chapter. She is a graduate of White Hall High School and has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Terry is currently employed with White Hall School District where she teaches kindergarten at Hardin Elementary School at Redfield. In 2012, she became a National Board certified teacher by meeting the high and rigorous standards and assessments for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. She has been president of the literacy committee, served on the parental involvement committee and the ACSIP committee at Hardin while also representing Hardin Elementary on the district personnel policy committee where she served as secretary. Terry and her two boys, Bryce and Brock, live in White Hall. She has volunteered many hours with several fundraisers such as Kids Fest and Delta Zeta’s Annual Crawfish Boil to assist numerous families, schools, students and shelters in need including several nonprofit organizations such as The Call, The White Hall Food Pantry, CASA, The Transformation Project, The White Hall Chamber, Redfield Friends of the Animals and Pine Bluff Animal Shelter.


• Sarah Castleberry of White Hall is the 2013-2014 Beta Sigma Phi reigning queen. She has been a member of the Delta Zeta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi since 2009. She is one of the founding members of Delta Zeta, a friendly Venture chapter, created in 2009. She currently serves on the executive board for Delta Zeta as the recording secretary. She also serves on the service and social committees, and previously served on the ways and means committee and other various committees. Castleberry has worked for Simmons First National Bank for the past 15 years and is currently a consumer banking officer and branch manager of the main bank in Pine Bluff. She is married to Tommy Castleberry, co-owner of Excel Construction of Arkansas LLC. They are the proud parents of four boys, Davan, Brandt, Hunter and Mason. She has numerous volunteer hours through her sorority with several organizations such as Transformation Project and The Call. She also has volunteer hours for several fundraisers such as Kids Fest, Optimist, The White Hall Chamber, Butch "Curly" Walters Memorial Golf Tournament, and Delta Zeta’s Annual Crawfish Boil.
