Shepherd’s Center of Pine Bluff recently announced its spring 2014 session of classes. Classes will be held each Wednesday beginning March 5 and continue through April 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lakeside Methodist Church, 15th Avenue and Olive Street.

Shepherd’s Center of Pine Bluff recently announced its spring 2014 session of classes. Classes will be held each Wednesday beginning March 5 and continue through April 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lakeside Methodist Church, 15th Avenue and Olive Street.


The registration fee is $10.


Classes will include:


• Driver Safety — March 19 and 26 only. This class will be taught by certified instructor Jim Bacon. Participants will learn the latest safety, vehicle technologies, roads and highway conditions, medical information and state of Arkansas specific laws and information. Must complete four hours — both classes. A fee of $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members will be charged.


• Cooking — Mary Ann Kizer, county Extension agent, family and consumer sciences, Jefferson County, instructor. Participants will learn to cook making healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose active lifestyles. Cooking demonstration and tasting party.


• Tap Dancing — Dorothy Soto, instructor — Learn to tap dance taught. This is a one-hour class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m


• Line Dancing — Juanita Thompkins, instructor


• Computer Course — Phil McBee, instructor. Class will be taught at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative, Sixth Avenue and Poplar Street. This class will meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday instead of Wednesday.


• Art Workshop — Instructors, Barbara Owen, drawing; Linda Lewis, drawing, water color; Carolyn Case, oil I and II; Mary Earl Smith, water color; Vickie Coleman, acrylic I & II. Participants are asked to bring supplies.


• Knitting/Crochet — Learn or join in with Barbara Fry and others.


• Canasta — Join Nancy Paschal to learn and play this relaxing card game.


• Photography – Taught by Mike Adam, who will be teaching portrait, landscaping, digital and more.


• South Central Center on Aging will teach a class to be announced.


• Bible class for all — Class taught by the Rev. Pam Estes. One-hour class from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.


• Bird Watching — Enjoy nature and learn with experts from the Audubon Society.


• Learn to play Mahjong with Alpha Hopkins


"This and That Classes" will include crafts with the Camden Road Extension Homemakers Club, making a mesh art wreath; Grace Willing Workers EHC will make a scarf; and Willing Workers of White Hall EHC will make a string art greeting card. Make a decorated vase using bread dough art with Brenda Robinson. There will also be a landscaped yard tour and a cooking class. There will be a small fee for supplies.
