DeWITT — Lance L. Clark, 19, of DeWitt died Saturday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center at Little Rock.

He was born Feb. 14, 1988, at DeWitt, a son of John L. Watts of Atlanta and Deborah Clark of DeWitt.

He received his early education in DeWitt public school system, where he played basketball.

He attended the University of Arkansas at Conway, where he was a freshman.

He was a member of Harvest Time Outreach Church of God in Christ at DeWitt.

Other survivors include two brothers, Cornelius Billingsley of Fort Miles, Fla., and Marshal Drummitt of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Cailyn Drummitt of Marietta; and his grandmothers, Ruby Clark of DeWitt and Geneva Gladden of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Henry Clark and Horace Watts.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the DeWitt High School gymnasium with Elder Delner Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery at Ethel by McKinzie Funeral Home at DeWitt.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church at DeWitt.

Denis Bailey

LITTLE ROCK — Denis James Bailey, 51, of Little Rock, formerly of Gould, died March 21 at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock.

He was born Dec. 24, 1954, at Gould, a son of the late McCarl Bailey Sr. and O’Lenna Robinson Bailey.

He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church at Gould and later united with the North Side Seventh Day Adventist Church at Pine Bluff.

Survivors include two daughters, Abayomi Caldwell of Little Rock and Ife Foluke Caldwell of Fort Carson, Colo.; two brothers, Leslie Bailey of Milwaukee and Clifton Bailey of Pine Bluff; one sister, Margie Ree Bailey of Gould; and one grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, McCarl Bailey; and three sisters, Florann Phillips, Altherica Watts and Maxine Bailey.

Memorial services will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at North Side Seventh Day Adventist Church at Pine Bluff with Charles Cunningham officiating. Arrangements are by McKinzie Funeral Home at DeWitt.

SHERIDAN — Nyoka Edom-Brown, 63, of Sheridan died Sunday at her home.

She was born July 9, 1943, at Parkin, a daughter of the late John Luther Brown and Hazel Mae Hoselton Brown.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Sheridan Red Hat Strutters.

Survivors include one son, Glen E. Odom of Sheridan; two daughters, Deanna Lynn Brown of Houston and Christy Renee Hallum of Lonoke; three brothers, Barron Brown of California, Larry Brown of Beaufort, N.C., and James Eldridge of Parkin; two sisters, Gloria Meche of Lafayette, La., and Linda Wallace of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Edom; two sisters, Grace Kimble and Gerry Enoch; a brother, J.D. Brown; and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Michael Walton and Brandon Carter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grover Watkins

SHERIDAN — Grover Leon Watkins, 79, of Sheridan died Monday at his home.

He was born Dec. 23, 1927, at Altheimer, a son of the late Grover Lee Watkins and Zula Davis Watkins.

He received his education in the Grady School District and graduated in 1956.

He served in the Army from 1961 to 1963.

He was a farmer and worked for Dreher Farms for more than 19 years.

Survivors include his wife, Carroll Angella Watkins, whom he married on April 11, 1988; two sons, Michael Watkins of Pine Bluff and Chris Watkins of DeWitt; two daughters, Teressa Harrington of Sheridan and Rhonda Gober of Hasty; two stepdaughters, Delma Crowell and Rivette Hill, both of Houston; three sisters, Helen Waddle of Pine Bluff, Catherine Tuck of Spokane, Wash., and Pat Aldridge of Wilmar; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha Brown.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Drake Cemetery at Star City with the Rev. Raymond Reed officiating. Arrangements are by Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall.

The family will be at the home at Sheridan.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Arkansas Chapter, 901 N. University, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.

STAR CITY — John D. Sullivan, 63, of Star City died Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital at Little Rock.

He was born Nov. 27, 1943, at Warren, a son of Virginia Wright Sullivan of Rock Springs and the late Homer Ralph Sullivan.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a retired auto worker for General Motors at Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was a Baptist.

Other survivors include one son, David Sullivan of Baltimore; one daughter, Beth Ann DeProw of Florida; one brother, C.L. Sullivan of Culleoka, Tenn.; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home at Monticello with the Revs. Donny Blackerby and Jim Hugill officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Drew County.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

COLUMBIA, Miss. — Charlotte Reid Waller, 71, of Columbia, Miss., died Monday at Marion General Hospital.

She was born Feb. 19, 1936, at Little Rock, Ark., a daughter of the late Charles Willard Reid Sr. and Geraldine Williams Reid.

She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1953, the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1961 and the University of Southern Mississippi in 1978.

She taught mathematics for 43 years, mostly at Pine Bluff High School and Hattiesburg, Miss., High School. She was certified in computer science, mathematics, general science and secondary school administration.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Columbia. She was also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Educational Computing Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Franklin Wayne Waller Jr. of Columbia; three sisters, Lucy Reid Peacock of Longview, Texas, and Patricia Reid White and Pamela Reid, both of Fayetteville, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Wayne Walker Sr.; and one brother, Charles Willard Reid Sr.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Columbia First United Methodist Church with Tom Atkins officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home at Columbia.

Robbie L. Curl, 58, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday at Davis Life Care Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
