VACANT PINE BLUFF DUPLEX BUILDING DESTROYED BY FIRE

By The Commercial Staff
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 8:18 AM CDT

Pine Bluff firefighters were attempting to determine the cause of a fire at a boarded up duplex on the north side of the city early Tuesday morning.

Kahdijah Miller said the wood frame duplex at 2500 Bell St. sustained an estimated $30,000 damage as a result of the blaze, which was reported at 4 a.m.

Miller said the structure had been completely boarded up, and after the fire was extinguished, firefighters reported that all the boards were in place when they arrived.

There were no fire related injuries reported.

There has been a rash of fires at vacant structures in the city. Currently, a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by the fire department, and another $1,000 from the police department for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for arson fires in Pine Bluff.
