The Southeast Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross has received a $25,000 check from the county and the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP).
County Judge Mike Holcomb presented the check to Donna Booth-Johnson, director of the local chapter, and said the funds were to help the chapter maintain necessary resources to set up shelters in areas when and where they are needed in the event of a chemical emergency event at the Pine Bluff Arsenal.
Those same procedures would also be used in case of other emergencies within Jefferson County, Holcomb said.
