PINE BLUFF MAN KILLED IN HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT

Arkansas State Police investigators are attempting to locate a silver SUV that left the scene of a fatal accident Saturday night on U.S. 425 in Jefferson County.
A preliminary report from Cpl. Brad Spurlin said Robert Lee Moore, 47, of Pine Bluff, was riding a bicycle south of Pointer Road when he was struck by the vehicle, driven by an unknown black male.
Deputy Coroner David Westbrook pronounced Moore dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m., and listed the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma.
Chief Deputy Coroner Chad Kelley said the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock on Sunday afternoon for an autopsy.
Witnesses to the accident told Spurlin the unknown make or model SUV was traveling north, and after striking Moore, the unidentified driver stopped, got out, then got back in the vehicle and left the scene traveling north on U.S. 425.
The accident was reported at 9:30 p.m., the preliminary report from Spurlin said.
The death was the 417th reported on the state’s highways so far this year.
