Lucille Brewer
FORDYCE — Lucille Brewer, 90, of Fordyce died Saturday.
She was born at Hampton to the late Harry and Maryanna Cross.
Survivors include one brother, Veunis Cross of Fordyce; three sisters, Rosemary Bush of Harrell, Lois Caldwell and Earlean Caldwell, both of Fordyce.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenville Baptist Church at Fordyce with the Rev. Ivory McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery by Brown-Williams Funeral Home of Fordyce.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 624 E. 11th St., Fordyce.
Dora Wells
LITTLE ROCK — Dora Shoptaw Moring Wells, 92, of Little Rock died Wednesday.
She was born Feb. 19, 1916, at Redfield.
She was a member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church at Sheridan.
Survivors: two sons, Wayne Moring and Tom Wells of Little Rock; two daughters, Wanda Connell of Little Rock and Sandy Murphy of Trenton, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Friday at Marlow Missionary Baptist Church with Robert Standley and Charles Lewallen officiating. Burial: Orion Cemetery by Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Johnny Deaton Jr.
MCGEHEE — Johnny Olin Deaton Jr., 63, of McGehee died Wednesday at his home.
He was born July 21, 1945, at Dermott, a son of the late John Olin Deaton Sr. and Christine Alford Deaton.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie Deaton and Marty Deaton; one brother, Billy Deaton; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in McGehee Cemetery with Dwain Dennis and the Rev. Artis Owens officiating. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Service of McGehee.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Danny Johnson
WHITE HALL — Danny Gerald Johnson, 48, of White Hall, Ark., died at home Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008.
Born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on Jan. 21, 1960, he was a son of Jim Gerald and Nancy Jacobs Johnson of Pine Bluff.
Reared and educated in Pine Bluff, he was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville on a baseball scholarship, then graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a finance degree in 1982 and an accounting degree in 1984.
Joining Entergy in May of 1984, he held several positions there including accountant, senior accountant and systems analyst.
A member of First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff, he coached Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Walker Johnson, to whom he was married in Pine Bluff Feb. 5, 1983; son, Jacob Lamar Johnson of Fayetteville, Ark.; his parents; brothers, Mike Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., and Mark Johnson of Pine Bluff; sister, Leigh Ann Johnson of West Plains, Mo.; and mother-in-law, Helen Walker of Pine Bluff.
Services are Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff with Rev. William Lee Kinney officiating. Interment follows in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.
Visitation is today at Robinson’s from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to UAMS ALS Research, 4301 W. Markham, Slot 716, Little Rock, Ark., 72205.
They are grateful to Danny’s many caregivers and to Hospice Angels.

DeShannon Brooks
DETROIT — DeShannon Brooks, 37, of Detroit died Sept. 25.
She was born Oct. 5, 1970, a daughter of Charles and Brenda Brooks of Detroit.
She attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey’s Temple Church of God in Christ at Detroit. Arrangements are by Swanson Funeral Home of Detroit.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
John W. (J.W.) Givens Sr. of Pine Bluff died Tuesday at Arkansas Convalescent Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by P.K. Miller Mortuary.
James Rowland Jr., 27, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Perry Funeral Home.
Ruby J. Scott, 57, of Pine Bluff died Sept. 24.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pine Bluff Mortuary Co. Chapel, 1001 E. Sixth Ave. Burial will be in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in the Hooker community. |
