XANAX PILLS FOUND IN DRUG RAID

An investigation into alleged drug activity at a mobile home in the Dollarway area resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man after several Xanax pills were found inside the residence.

At a court hearing Monday, Circuit Judge Jodi Dennis ruled prosecutors had probable cause to charge David Hall, 24, with possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor after Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed explained that the number of pills found were less than the number necessary to file felony charges.

“This was charged as a felony because it was his residence but someone else laid claim to the drugs. The number found in close proximity to him was less than the 20 required for a felony,” Reed said, adding that five pills were found on the floor of a bedroom where Hall and a female were located.

Reed said investigators with the Tri-County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 1901 Moreland St. and found a bag containing nine Xanax pills in a laundry basket.

Officers also found a bag containing two grams of marijuana and digital scales in a kitchen cabinet drawer.

In a back bedroom, Reed said officers reported finding a pill bottle and five pills on the floor, and Hall denied knowledge of the pills.

The judge ruled that Hall would be held in the county detention center until today then be released to a court ordered residential drug treatment facility in El Dorado which was expected to last 30 to 90 days.

Hall told the court he would hire his own attorney.
