DEATHS FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2008

Paul Christman

ROGERS — Paul Christman, 58, of Rogers, formerly of Star City, died Thursday at his home. He was an accountant with Downing, Christman and Associates in Springdale.

Christman was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Edith Christman and a brother.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. Daniel Christmas and wife Marnie of Rogers; a nephew, Lee Christman and wife Aimee; and their children Rosh and Maddy.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mt. Home Cemetery near Star City.

There will be no formal visitation. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.

Algeon Stuckey

SHERIDAN — Algeon Lester Stuckey of Sheridan, Ark., was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Sheridan, the son of the late Jesse and Olive Rutherford Stuckey.

He died at his home on Oct. 9, 2008, at the age of 89.

He was a 1936 graduate of Sheridan High School.

He served from 1942-45 in the Army Air Force (Western Pacific) during World War II. He served on a B-24 Liberator as a gunner and as a radio operator on 55 bombing missions. He also trained new recruits. He was chosen to serve on the crew that brought the first combat plane back to the States after VJ Day.

He retired as State Director of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (ASCS) after serving in the Drew County (Monticello) office measuring cotton with a chain. He also served as office manager for Grant, Miller and Saline counties and then advanced to district director for Southwest Arkansas.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheridan where he attended the Jack Williams Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Monroe Stuckey of Monticello and Frank Stuckey of Little Rock.

Survivors: Wife, Zelma Rita Jacks Stuckey, of the home, whom he married Aug. 22, 1950; son, Paul and wife Carol Stuckey of Bentonville; daughter, Kay and husband Tommy Willard of Texarkana; grandsons, Shawn and Michael Willard of Texarkana; granddaughters, Rachel Stuckey of Jackson, Miss., and Rebecca Stuckey of Bentonville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Bennett and the Rev. Ross Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., also at the church. The church is located at 100 East Church Street in Sheridan, just off of Hwy. 167.

Harold Miller

WHITE HALL — Harold Bernard Miller, Sr., 45 of White Hall, died Sunday. He was born Jan. 4, 1963, in Pine Bluff, son of the late Clyde Holland and Merle Cobbs.

Harold Bernard Miller Sr., was a member of Mount Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully as an associate minister of the equipping, Sunday School and men's ministry. He was a member of Haygood Lodge 407 and a retired sergeant major.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Miller; sons, Harold Miller, Jamoris Miller and Joshua Miller; daughter Mesha Miller; brothers, Michael Davis and Darron Cobbs; sister, Pamela Miller Sanders; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Mount Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with Robert L. Handley officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation is Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. with a family hour from 6 to 7 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9:45 a.m. until time of service.

Kevin Woods

DALLAS — Kevin Lamont Woods, son of Sullivan and Carolyn Zemmons Woods, was born Aug. 1, 1978 in Little Rock, Ark. He departed this life on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Dallas, Texas.

He attended Pine Bluff public schools and was a 2004 graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute in Grand Prairie, Texas, with a degree in automotive technology.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Flossie Woods.

He was a devoted father, son, brother and companion. He was loved dearly by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his fianc/e, Bettina Turner of Grand Prairie, Texas; son, Ky’Reon LaZale Woods of Grand Prairie, Texas; Inyra Nykole Woods of Grand Prairie, Texas; parents, Sullivan and Carolyn Zemmons Woods; grandmother, Orie Jean Jackson of Pine Bluff; brothers, Corey Brown and Bryant Woods of Pine Bluff, Ark., Sullivan Woods (Jackie) of Orlando, Fla., and Solomon Griffin Jr. (Sarah) of Rosamond, Cali.; sisters, Jalandra Woods (Reggie) of Duncanville, Texas, and Shelia Griffin Brown of DeSoto, Texas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 5 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. The family will be at 1519 West 17th Ave.

Michael Daryl Anthony Green, 36 of Pine Bluff, died, Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008. Arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Lonnie Ross, 77, of Pine Bluff, died Friday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Perry Funeral Home.

Olivia Steele of 4506 Highway 190 East Princeton Pike, died Saturday at her home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the P.K. Miller Mortuary.

HOT SPRINGS — Walter Jeffery Morgan, 49, of Hot Springs, died Oct. 7.

Visitation will be on Oct. 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Griffin Steele Chapel in Lake Village.

Graveside services will be Oct. 13 in Dermott City Cemetery. Griffin Steele Funeral Services of Lake Village is responsible for arrangements.
