Betty Brinkley

Betty Sue Rogers Brinkley, 74, of Pine Bluff passed away Oct. 14, 2008.

She was born July 24, 1934, at Magnolia, Ark., to the late Marvin and Beulah Rogers.

She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1951 and attended Southern Arkansas College. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy Rogers.

Survivors: her husband, Edwin J. Brinkley; son, Randy Brinkley of White Hall; daughters, Sheila Clifton of White Hall and Pam Ashcraft of Marshall, Texas; five grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy Rogers of Vivian, La.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Owens officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall.

Visitation will be from 1 until service time today.

The family will be at their home in Pinewood.

Michael Green

Michael Daryl Anthony Green, born July 27, 1972, in Pine Bluff, transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Oct. 8, 2008.

He confessed hope in Christ early in his life and in 2008 he rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Johnson at Full Counsel Christian Fellowship.

Michael graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1990 and joined the U.S. Navy. In the Navy he earned a certificate from the nuclear field “A” school after serving our country. He attended Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, Conn., where he earned an associate degree in nuclear engineering. In 1999, he received a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering at the University of Massachusetts and in 2000 he completed his master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the same university.

He enjoyed spending time with his three girls, sports, reading, video games and computers.

He leaves to cherish his memories his girls, Vanessa, Alexis and Adina, their mother Jennifer Thoms; his mother, Edna Green; father, Elder Clarence Green and stepmother, Classie Green; sister, Schenetta Green; nephews, Kyle and Tyler; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Green of Lake Village and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His services will be Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Full Counsel Christian Fellowship by Pastor Vincent Johnson at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4-7:30 with a family hour from 6-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

The family will be at 3109 Kendyl Road, Pine Bluff, Ark.

Mary Smith

Mary Lee Smith, 65, of the Hardin community near Pine Bluff, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at her home.

She was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Pine Bluff to Arthur Lee and Mary Iola Heird Daniels.

Mrs. Smith was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Dollarway High School.

She had worked at First Baptist Church Day Care, the Dollar General Store and in the cafeteria at Dollarway School District.

She was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed working with the 4-H and Cub Scouts. She was a member of Hardin New Life Apostolic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Earnest Smith, whom she married on March 5, 1961, in Pine Bluff; a son, Dante Lee Smith (Angel) of Sheridan; a daughter, Pamela Williams Weyerman (Fred) of Pueblo, Colo.; three grandchildren, Brandy Williams of Kansas, Cheyenne Smith and Austin Smith, both of Sheridan; and a brother, Jimmy Ray Daniels of Lewis, Mo.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson’s.

Services will be 10 a.m., today, Oct. 16, 2008, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Don Nobles officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Cemetery.

A. J. McFarland Jr.

BANKS — Auborn Jerome “A.J.” McFarland Jr., 90, of Banks died Tuesday at Ouachita County Medical Center at Camden.

He was born March 27, 1918, at Banks, a son of the late A.J. McFarland Sr. and Hattie Mae Smith McFarland.

Survivors: one son, Dr. Gale McFarland; brother, Roy Herbert McFarland; sisters, Christine Munford, May Dean Sweatman, Bobby Sue Whisenhunt and Nelsie Bershen; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. Saturday at his home, 2319 Highway 278, Banks. Burial with military honors: McFarland Cemetery at Banks by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.

Visitation: 1-9 p.m. Friday at his home.

HOPE — Pius Williams, 47, of Hope died Monday at Baptist Health at Little Rock. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
