Roy Halliburton Jr.
Mr. Roy Halliburton Jr., 67, of Pine Bluff died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008.
Born in Dumas to the late Roy Sr. and Josephine Halliburton.
His survivors include sons, Roy III and Clarence Halliburton; daughters, Josephine Moore, all of Lansing, Mich., and Vickie Davis of Pine Bluff; brothers, Richard Halliburton of Toledo, Ohio, Lynn Halliburton; sister, Mary Jenkins, both of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
His services will be Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Melvin Ely at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Forrest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The family will be at 4306 Union Ave., Pine Bluff.
Robert Wright Jr.
FAYETTEVILLE — Robert Douglas Wright Jr., surrounded by his family and friends, left his earthly home on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008. Known as “Big” by his grandchildren, this proud and loving husband, father and grandfather was born June 17, 1929, in Gurdon, Ark. He was the son of Robert Douglas Wright and Ella Mae Wright Theis of Pine Bluff, who preceded him in death.
Doug is survived by Kay Young Wright, his wife of 48 years; a son, Robert Douglas Wright III and wife Tara of Little Rock; a daughter, Leah Tucker and husband Sterling of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Tres Tucker, Kathryn Suzanne Tucker, Ray Elizabeth Wright and Elaina Douglas Wright (born Tuesday); a brother, James Wright and wife Bobbi of Newport, R.I.; his 97-year-old mother-in-law, Norma Young of Searcy; a sister-in-law, Sue Hurt and husband, Bill, of Jonesboro; special nieces and nephews, Tom and Diana Ekman, Tripler, Alex, Charlotte and Henry Larzelere and Martha Chapman.
Doug attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Omega Omega chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He served his country in the Navy in the Korean War, before returning home to Arkansas to begin a long and successful career in banking and finance.
Doug was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. As leader of the St. Paul’s travel group, Doug and Kay cherished their travels with the choir to England and Italy where Doug greeted Kay with tears of joy after performances at Westminster Abbey and the Vatican. Through his love of great food and music, he was the patriarch of The Ultimate Supper Club. Doug was an avid Razorback fan, teaching his children and grandchildren the joy, heartbreak and sportsmanship of the Hogs. He was also an avid lover of the lakes of Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 24 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. He will be interred in the columbarium at St. Paul’s where he will be surrounded by God, children and beautiful music. A celebration dinner will follow the service at the home of Kay and Doug Wright in Fayetteville.

FROSTPROOF, Fla. — Betty Sue Condry Tharp Acree, 73, of Frostproof, Fla., died May 14, 2008, at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1934, at England, Ark., a daughter of the late Luel and Frances Condry.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Tharp Jr. of Frostproof; one daughter, Donna Woodfield of Mount Ida, Ark.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fitzhugh Cemetery in the Sulphur Springs community. Arrangements are by Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Lt. Commander Carl Hall Jr., USN retired, age 85 of Brentwood, Tenn. (formerly of Memphis, Tenn.), died Oct. 20, 2008.
Graduate of University of Alabama with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Retired U.S. Navy veteran with 27 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean War and received three air medals.
Preceded in death by wife, Mary Irene Roberts Hall.
Survived by sons, Alan (Elizabeth) Hall, Memphis, Tenn., and Robert (Debbie) Hall, Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Alan Hall Jr., Branden Hall, Jennifer Hall Howe, Allison Hall Skalisky, Katherine Hall Marthedal, Natalie Hall and Madeline Hall; great grandchildren, Delaney and Connor Hall, Lily, Eli and Kaylee Howe.
Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted 11 a.m. today, Oct. 23, 2008, at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh LaGrange, Memphis, Tenn., 38134 (901) 386-4858.
