A shooting early Sunday morning in Pine Bluff injured two people, including one who received a gunshot wound to the back.
Sources close to the investigation reported that the unknown suspects involved in the shooting were possibly also linked to a shooting on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas at Conway Sunday night that killed two men and wounded a third.
The Associated Press reported Monday afternoon that Conway Police believed the shooting there was not a random incident and had three suspects in custody, but no arrests had been made.
Regarding the shooting in Pine Bluff, Tedrick Jones, 24, of Wilmar, told police he had been at the Jefferson Square Shopping Center at 2:30 a.m., when someone started shooting, and friends took him to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with a wound that penetrated the back and entered the stomach.
Police reported that Jones would not give any information on the shooter.
A second victim, Alamisha Jones, 19, of Little Rock, had a gunshot wound to the side after a bullet bounced off the parking lot and hit her. She was interviewed at the scene.
Alamisha Jones told police she saw a dark-skinned black male, approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall, firing a handgun. She said the man was wearing a black shirt and racing jacket.
Police said three vehicles on the parking lot were also hit by flying bullets during the incident, which followed a party at Jefferson Square to celebrate UAPB’s homecoming and victory.
“Although this was a party for UAPB, there was nobody from Pine Bluff or the school that was a victim or a suspect in this,” Lt. Bob Rawlinson said late Monday afternoon. “Detectives are still trying to sort all this out and we’re asking anyone who might have seen anything to call them at 543-5111, or the Crime Hotline at 543-5110.” |
