Pine Bluff detectives were in Conway Tuesday attempting to tie four men arrested in a fatal shooting at the University of Central Arkansas Sunday night to an earlier shooting incident on the parking lot of the Jefferson Square Shopping Center that resulted in injuries to two people.
“We know definitely that all four men were at a party here early Sunday, but we’re still trying to figure out if they were also involved in what happened at Jefferson Square, or if they were the intended victims here and the shooting in Conway was some sort of attempt to retaliate,” Lt. Bob Rawlinson said Tuesday afternoon.
He said investigators have determined that several different groups from the Little Rock-Conway area attended the party at the Main Event, located in Jefferson Square, including the four men being held at Conway, and the two shooting victims here, Tedrick Jones, 24, of Wilmar, and Alamisha Jones, 19, of Little Rock.
Tedrick Jones was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with a bullet wound that penetrated his back and entered the stomach while Alamisha Jones received a bullet wound to the left side after a bullet bounced off the parking lot and hit her.
Alamisha Jones told police she saw a black male with a dark complexion, approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall firing a handgun. She said the man wore a black shirt and a racing jacket.
Three vehicles on the parking lot were also hit by bullets during the shooting, which was reported at about 2:30 a.m., police said.
Rawlinson said although the party was sponsored by a fraternity at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, there was nobody from Pine Bluff or the school that was a victim or is considered to be a suspect in the shooting here. All the activity took place on the parking lot and not inside the facility.
Meanwhile, Conway authorities on Tuesday filed capital murder and other charges against Kawin Jerod Brockman, 19, Kelcey S. Perry, 19, and Mario Lavelie Toney, 20, all of Conway; and Brandon Ricardo Wade, 20, of Bigalow. They were being held in the Faulkner County jail, pending a hearing which had not been set.
They were accused in the shooting deaths of Ryan Henderson, 18, of Little Rock and Chavares Block, 19, of Dermott, who were killed on the UCA campus Sunday night.
A third person, Martrevis Norman of Blytheville, was treated and released from a Conway hospital after receiving a gunshot wound to the leg.
The four men were also charged with terroristic threatening, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm from a car, and possession of a weapon on school property, and were being held without bond at the Faulkner County Jail.
Rawlinson said an investigation is continuing into the Pine Bluff shooting and anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Division at 543-5111 or the Crime Hotline at 543-5110, and all calls will be kept confidential.
