FINANCE FILINGS REVEALED

All six Pine Bluff mayoral candidates have now filed pre-election campaign finance reports, though three alderman candidates still had not submitted the information to the county clerk’s office as of Friday.
Mayoral candidates Carl A. Redus Jr., LaJuan London Roaf and Larry Freeman filed finance reports Thursday and Friday. Alderman candidates Charles Boyd Sr., Irene Holcomb, Ronnie Reynolds, Glen Brown, George Stepps and Carl Ford also submitted the reports.
Alderman candidates Derwood Smith, Danny L. Walker and Milton H. Jenkins had not yet filed the reports as of 6 p.m. Friday.
Redus, the incumbent mayor, reported total contributions of $20,540 and expenditures of $19, 899. Dr. J.F. Redman of Pine Bluff and Waste Management made the largest contributions, $1,000 each, to the campaign. Attorney Richard Mays of Little Rock contributed $700 and Dr. Kenneth Lambert of Pine Bluff gave $500.
Freeman reported total contributions of $300 and expenditures of $800. The largest contributors were Simmons First National Bank ($200) and Thomas May ($75).
Roaf reported the largest contributors to her campaign were Sanreka Watley of Chicago ($200) and Betty Hastings of Pine Bluff ($100).
Each candidate reported advertising including signs to be the campaign’s greatest expense.
Boyd listed contributions of $1,100 and expenditures of $1,161. His largest contributor was Waste Management ($500).
Holcomb reported contributions of $8,880 and expenditures of $7,294. Pine Bluff National Bank and Lee Roy Brownlee of Little Rock each contributed $500, and Ken Ferguson of Little Rock gave $400.
Reynolds listed contributions of $150 and expenditures of $717. Reynolds loaned the campaign $500 and Clifford Flowers contributed $150.
Brown reported contributions of $775 and expenditures of $3,416. The largest contributors to his campaign were P.J. Enterprises Inc. ($200) and Sanger Inc. ($100). Brown loaned the campaign $2,700.
State law requires local candidates to submit a campaign finance report seven days prior to an election.
Only three of six mayoral candidates and two of 11 alderman candidates had submitted the report by the Oct. 28 deadline. |
