TWO KILLED IN WEEKEND ACCIDENTS

Two people were killed and three injured in traffic accidents Saturday, including one on U.S. 79 south in Jefferson County.

A preliminary report from the State Police said Jill A. Attebery, 34, of El Dorado died when she was ejected from the vehicle she had been riding in after a two vehicle accident in the 9100 block of U.S. 79 South.

State Police said Attebery was in a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Scott Attebery, 31, also of El Dorado, that passed three vehicles while traveling south, then struck a 2004 Ford driven by Maxine Stahl of Pine Bluff that was turning into Pantheridge Lane.

Cpl. Bonita Swint reported that after the collision, the Chevrolet went airborne and overturned, ejecting Jill Attebery, who was not wearing a seat belt.

Stahl and a passenger in the Attebery vehicle, Bryce A. Attebery, three months, were not injured while Scott Attebery was taken to a hospital.

The accident was reported at 1:14 p.m. Saturday and Swint reported the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time.

Also Saturday, Margaret P. Robinson, 85, of Hensley was killed in a two vehicle accident on U.S. 167 at Woodson Lateral Road in Saline County.

Cpl. Dale Donham reported that Robinson was westbound on Woodson Lateral Road in a 2003 Buick when she failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a 2002 Hyundai driven by James M. Allen, 22, of Prattsville, that was northbound on U.S. 167.

Allen and a passenger in his vehicle, Sara Ann Allen, 23, also of Prattsville were injured and taken to Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment.

Donham said the weather was clear and the roadway dry when the accident was reported at 11:20 a.m.
