But, the plea went to the boiler room of London’s vast Coliseum Theater — not to Eartha. After the charity performance, Eartha said of Prince Philip, the queen’s husband, “He’s all man. A very nice man, and witty, too.” She described the queen as “warm and vibrant.” The well-heeled audience paid up to $200 to see the show, which included Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews singing “I Could Have Danced All Night.” 25 Years Ago November 4, 1983 The initial process of moving a Cotton Belt Railroad locomotive at Oakland Park has begun, Jim Johnson, a spokesman for the railroad said this morning. He said crews would begin “inching” the locomotive across to the nearby Army Reserve Armory about noon today, weather permitting. Engine 819 was built at the Cotton Belt shops here in 1943 and is one of only two “home-built engines” or engines actually built by a railroad line in company shops, in a condition for restoration, according to William A. McCaskill of the Arkansas Railroad Club. |
