Barbara Hollis
Barbara McCarley Hollis, 70, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and was surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hollis was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Pine Bluff, to Olene Taylor McCarley and the late J. T. McCarley. She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Hollis retired from Terry Mac Cleaners. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Her survivors include sons, Doug Hollis of White Hall, Greg Hollis of Tunica, Miss., and Chris Hollis of White Hall; four sisters, Shirley Hubanks of Watson Chapel, Brenda Coats of Pine Bluff, Linda Cheshier of Stuttgart, and Sandi Figueroa of Lawton, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Garrett Hollis of Banks, Jonathan Hollis of White Hall, and Jalynn Hollis of White Hall.
Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her father, J.T. McCarley; her husband, Rex D. Hollis, who passed away June 28, 1985; and a grandchild, Baby Hollis.
The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Robinson’s.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Howard Loetscher officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be located at her mother, Mrs. Olene McCarley’s home, 2206 W. 39th Ave., Pine Bluff.
Virginia Hunter
Mrs. Virginia L. Hunter, 76, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. She was born to the late Henry and Annie L. Thomas on Nov. 19, 1932 in Thornton, Ark.
She was a member of the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, a choir member, Sunday School pianist, mission and a member of Burford Memorial No. 383, Order of the Eastern Star-PHA.
She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and AM&N College (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff).
Preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Greene; and one sister, Carolyn Cobb.
Survivors: One sister, Ivey Bee, Pine Bluff; five nephews; seven great-nephews; and five great-nieces.
Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church at 11 a.m. by Dr. Robert Handley. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Alice White
DEWITT — Alice Alventa Murphy White, 64, of Dewitt died Saturday.
Born Sept. 2, 1944, in Dewitt, she was a daughter of Alice Alventa Nelson Morse of Dewitt and the late Herbert Jr. Murphy.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Dewitt.
Other survivors include sister Eunice Marie Doan of Smithville, Okla.; and brother Charles Murphy of Dewitt.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Dewitt with Aaron Brown officiating. Burial in Forks LaGrue Cemetery by McKinzie/Wilson Funeral Home of Dewitt.
Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Apostic Church at Dewitt.
E.C. Finley
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — E.C. Finley, 79, of North Little Rock died Saturday.
He was born April 12, 1929, in Fordyce to the late Edward C. Finley and Mattie Crow Finley.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Nadine Rivers Finley; son Keith D. Finley of Metarie, La.; daughter Robin K. Finley of Little Rock; step-daughter Glenda A. Lesher of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Roller-Owens Funeral Home at North Little Rock. Burial with military honors, 3 p.m. in Crossroads Cemetery at Kingsland by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
