DEATHS FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2008

Thomas Allen

SHERIDAN — Thomas Boyce Allen of Sheridan, Ark., was born Sept. 2, 1913, in the Calvert community (south of Sheridan), the son of the late Richard A. and Elizabeth Bratton Allen.

He was a veteran of the Army having fought in World War II. After retiring from the sawmill, Boyce enjoyed spending his time fishing, trapping, hunting, and farming, especially raising watermelons and cantaloupes. He raised and rode horses and also raised cattle. The greatest joy in Boyce’s life was creating memories with his family.

Mr. Allen died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at his home at the age of 95.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Doyle Allen and Ivan and wife, Laura Allen; sister, Wilma Ross Lewis; nephew, Rommy (Whimp) Allen.

Survivors: wife of 67 years, Elsie Lee Moring Allen of the home to whom he married Oct. 11, 1941; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Allen of Sheridan; sisters, Hazel Wilson of Malvern, Connie Wilson of Sheridan; nephews, Roy Lynn Wilson, Dennis Allen, Danny Allen and Bob Allen; grandchildren, Gayla Johnston, Christy Allen and Kerri Leann McNutt and husband Ron; stepgranddaughter, Joy DeHart and husband Tim; great-grandchildren, Justin Button, Jason Button, Kylie McNutt; step great-grandchildren, Deric DeHart and Kristen Romine; stepgreat-great-grandson, Noah Romine.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. William Ashcraft and Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in the Shiloh Community.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today.
