MAGAZINE ON SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS DEBUTS MONDAY

BY THE COMMERCIAL STAFF
Saturday, December 13, 2008 10:56 PM CST

The Pine Bluff Commercial is proud to present, beginning Monday, SEA Life, a lifestyle magazine that focuses on the people and events of special interest to residents of the area.

It’s a glossy publication, filled with lots of full-color photographs of Southeast Arkansas faces and articles dealing with a little bit of everything — healthcare, finance, people profiles, recipes, sports, recreation and much more, including a Q&A segment with interesting folks from around Southeast Arkansas and beyond.

The magazine will be offered free, on a monthly basis, at more than 50 locations across the region. SEA Life may also be mailed to your house or business for a subscription price of $33 per year.

Our cover subject for the inaugural edition is Tommy May, chairman and chief executive officer for Simmons First National Corp. and Simmons First National Bank. He talks about his love for Pine Bluff and its people and shares his outlook on life since being diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Monte Coleman, first-year head football coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is featured, as is Melinda Mayo, a meteorologist with KATV (Channel 7) Little Rock/Pine Bluff, and Patricia Johnson, newly elected county clerk for Jefferson County, in the magazine’s first Q&A segments.

In the premiere edition of SEA Life, there are stories and photos from Pine Bluff, Stuttgart, Monticello, Crossett, Dumas, Woodlawn, Rison and more.

The goal, according to Mike Hengel, publisher/editor of The Commercial, is to reach into all areas of Southeast Arkansas in the months ahead. Suggestions for stories and photographs are also welcomed, he said.

For more information or to submit a story idea, call (870) 543-1449 or e-mail ideas and feedback about the magazine to: mail@searklife.com.
