Angela Harrell
Angela Dawn Harrell, age 38, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, after battling a long illness.
She was born Oct. 30, 1970 at Pine Bluff, a daughter of Charles and Lawanda Bennett Finley of Pine Bluff. Angela was reared and educated at Pine Bluff, and graduated from UAMS in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked in many different capacities of nursing as most nurses do, but considered herself as a dialysis nurse having worked mostly at dialysis centers.
Angela didn’t have any hobbies per say, she enjoyed passing her time with her family, (especially her grandchildren) and caring for those in need. She attended First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, John Harrell, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1985 at Hernando, Miss.; two sons, Jonathan and Andrew Harrell, both of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Teresa Nguyen of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Tonya Eheman of Pine Bluff; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services: Monday, 2 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with burial in New Owen Cemetery.
Visitation: Sunday, 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fred Mitchell
FORDYCE — Fred Mitchell, 90, of Fordyce died Tuesday.
He was born at Princeton to the late Robert Hill and Elnora Mitchell.
Survivors include step-sons Henry Marshall and William Marshall, both of Detroit.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church at Carthage with Elder Charlie Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Carthage.
The body will lie in state at the church from noon until time of service.
The family will be at 129 Smith Lane, Carthage.

Jean French
GILLETT — Jean Estelle French died Dec. 13, 2008, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born at Gillett, July 21, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. G.C. French.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Lloyd Keith Smith.
She was a member of Gillett United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of United Methodist Women and a member of Federal Reserve Bank 25-year club. She was retired from the Federal Reserve Bank at Little Rock. While living and working in Little Rock, she was an active of Asbury United Methodist Church, the Win-One Sunday School class, and the UMW. She loved bowling, doing hand-crafts and traveling. Her most memorable trip was to the Holy Land.
She is survived by two sisters, Inez Price of Pine Bluff, Barbara Smith of Gillett and Pine Bluff; one nephew, James F. Price and wife Anne of Holiday Island, Ark.; three great nieces; one great nephew; and one great-great niece.
Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 15, 2 p.m., at the Gillett United Methodist Church by Rev. Chuck Coffelt. Burial will be in Gillett Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Hilda Lea
WHITE HALL — Hilda Thomas Lea, 79, of White Hall, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Lea was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Howard E. and Charlie Mae Mason Thomas. She was reared and received her education in Bauxite, where she graduated from Bauxite High School. She also graduated from Arkansas Business College in Little Rock.
Mrs. Lea worked for Fox Brothers Hardware in Pine Bluff for 30 years, where she was the Accounting Manager. She was a long time employee of Sears. She also worked for Simmons First National Bank for 12 years before retiring.
She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was also of a member of the Jefferson County Singing Convention and the Pine Bluff Quartet.
Mrs. Lea is survived by four sons and their spouses, Michael Thomas of Auburn, Calif., Jeff and Marsha Lea of Helena, Ala., Jack and Jan Lea of Rogers, Ark., and Jimmy and Elaine Lea of Martinez, Ga.; daughter, Elizabeth Thomas of White Hall; eight grandchildren, Mason Thomas of Conway, Jarrett Lea of Conway, Robbie Lea of Fayetteville, Jeffrey Lea of Dalton, Ga., Jason Lea of Calera, Ala., Hannah Lea, Jesse Lea and Jordan Lea, all of Martinez, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Lea, whom she married on Dec. 22, 1973, and two brothers, Ray and Dan Thomas.
A graveside service will be Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, 10 a.m., at Hedden Chapel Cemetery in Grant County with Brother Matt Grantham officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. There will be a funeral procession to the graveside service leaving Robinson's at 9 a.m.
Beloved by all, Hilda was a kind and generous soul. She loved her gospel singing and sang with many groups over the years. She has now gone to sing in a much larger choir of angels.

Helen Patton
WHITE HALL — Helen Marie Brunson Patton, 87, of White Hall, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at White Hall Nursing & Rehab.
She was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Mer Rouge, La., to Charlie Kelser and Bertie Lee Hill Patton.
Mrs. Patton was reared and educated in Louisiana, graduating from Columbia High School.
She moved to Pine Bluff in 1950. She had worked 20 years for National Bank of Commerce as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Patton was a member of Hardin Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude V. Patton, whom she married on Dec. 21, 1944, in Columbia, La.; a son, John V. Patton; and her parents.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Tammy Luckett of White Hall; a grandson, Brady Patton of White Hall; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Mike Minton officiating.
Burial will be private.

Artis Harris
CHICAGO — Mr. Artis Harris, 73 of Chicago, formerly of Tarry, died, Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008. He was born in Tarry to the late George and Charlcia Harris.
His survivors include, daughter, Donna Gaines; brothers, Odis Harris both of Tarry and Deloris Harris of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Tedoria Toles of Little Rock, Verdestine Neal of Fresno, Calif., Vergerine Zeno of Houston and Oleta Patterson of Tarry; one grandchild.
His services will be Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Mt. Olive AME Church in Tarry by Reverend G.L. Ford at 11 a.m.. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery in Tarry by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The family will be at 1209 Brentwood Drive, Pine Bluff, Ark.
Irene Perry, 80, of Pine Bluff died Saturday. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Elizabeth Johnson, 89, of North Little Rock died Saturday at Baptist Health in Little Rock. Arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
CHICOT, Texas — Jim Thompson, 62 of Chicot, Texas, formerly of New Edinburg, died Friday at John Peter Smith Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
