DEATHS FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2008
Johnny Green
Johnny Charles Green, 64, of Pine Bluff passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Johnny was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on Oct. 6, 1944 and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1962. He later received his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Ouachita Baptist College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Flora Green; an uncle, Johnny Henry; and an aunt, Faye Henry.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Wynn, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1977, at Pine Bluff. Together they have a daughter Wallace Green Joiner and her husband Wilkes, and two grandchildren, Estelle and Preston who will miss their “Pop.” He was also survived by one brother, Paul Green Jr.; uncle and aunt, B.R. and Barbara Henry; aunt, Ruth Henry; and several nieces and nephews. His two favorite felines, Nick and Nora, also survive him. He had just adopted a new member to his feline family, Sooie. Johnny had a very soft heart when it came to animals.
Johnny retired from State Farm Claims division in April 2005 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf as much as he could with Gene Hilborn and Cedric Williams. He enjoyed fishing with his dear friend Jack Perdue. He was teaching himself to play the guitar, and he wrote beautiful poetry. After he retired he started learning to cook and took over the household chores, which Ramona loved.
Johnny especially enjoyed getting together with his PBHS classmates every year for annual reunions ... that was the best time and he loved it.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Noel F. “Bud” Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
