DEATHS FOR SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2009

D’Shun Leonard

D’Shun Lenell Leonard of Pine Bluff died Feb. 2, the day of his birth, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital at Little Rock.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rolling Water Cemetery at Kelso, Ark.

Survivors: father, Arthur Leonard of Pine Bluff; mother, Janice Dukes of Pine Bluff; sister, Aryana Leonard of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; grandparents, Milton and Mae J. Dukes of Pine Bluff and Willie and Louise Mitchell of Little Rock; great-grandparents, Roosevelt Burnett of Pine Bluff and Louise Hollis of Little Rock.

Cora Graishe

Cora Elizabeth Graishe, 86, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at home.

She was born May 30, 1922, in Parkin, Arkansas, daughter of Rodney C. and Alenie Wilcox Bernard. Mrs. Graishe was reared and received her early education in Parkin, graduating from Parkin High School.

Mrs. Graishe worked as a dental assistant for Harold Mitchell DDS for 11 years and Jefferson Comprehensive Care as a dental assistant and later as a receptionist before her retirement.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Graishe was preceded in death by her husband, Roland U. Graishe, whom she married June 21, 1945, in Parkin; her parents; and two brothers, Rodney C. Bernard Jr. and George Bernard.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Graishe of Mountain View and Stephen Graishe of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Rosiland Graishe Johnson of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Harold Mitchell officiating.

Sylvia Babcock

REDFIELD—Sylvia Bell Baugh Babcock, age 92, of Redfield, died Wednesday Feb. 4.

Born July 24, 1916, in Grant County, she was a daughter of the late David Lee and Alice Berry Baugh.

Sylvia was a homemaker and a farmer, raising vegetables to sell at the farmers market, but was most notably known for her floral arrangements.

She was a member of the Redfield United Methodist Church.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, James Babcock, to whom she was married Nov. 27, 1940; son, Mark Babcock; sister, Agnes Bruce; three brothers, Leo, Herbert, and Martin Baugh.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn K. Hoffmann and husband Robert of Endicott, N.Y.; a son, Larry Babcock and wife Jean of Redfield; five grandchildren, Rhonda Elkins, Tonia Breeding and husband Chad, all of Redfield, Josh Hoffmann, Joe Hoffmann, Zack Hoffmann and wife Amanda, all of Endicott, N.Y.; and four great-grandchildren, Scooter Elkins, Baley Elkins, Moe Breeding and Kolton Breeding, all of Redfield.

Funeral services will be Monday, 1 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Art Norris officiating.

Visitation will be Monday at noon until service time. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Callie Dewberry

GARY, Ind. — Callie Virginia Stallon McCraney Dewberry was born Aug. 9, 1912, and departed life on Feb. 4 at the age of 96. She accepted Jesus Christ of Nazareth at an early age in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Preceding her in death was her brother, Joe Stallon; mother, Mary Effie Wade; brother, Bobby Lee Stallon; sister Viola Burks; husband, Rev. Zebedee Dewberry; and daughter, Elvira Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Rev. Earnestine Johnson; sons, Rev. Reverend McCraney, Wilie McCraney and Michael Dewberry. She also has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 9-11 a.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street, Gary, Ind., with the Rev. Reverend McCraney officiating. Internment at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Angel J. Brown of Pine Bluff was born Feb. 4 and died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Perry Funeral Home.
