Syble Monk
Syble Taylor Monk, 84, of Pine Bluff, passed away on Feb. 13, 2009. Mrs. Monk was born in Emerson, Ark., on June 28, 1924, to William Haston Taylor and Ira Sweet Taylor.
Mrs. Monk was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leon Taylor; and three sisters, Ethel Taylor, Jeanette Mulligan, and Willie Mae Ryan.
Survivors include one son, Jimmie Monk of St. Joseph, La.; one daughter, Pat Drewett (Mike) of Sherrill, Ark.; four grandchildren, Ashley Helton (Heath) of Bryant, Ark.; Lisa Monk of Benton; Lee Drewett (Leslie) of Houston, Texas; and Derik Drewett of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Helton, Haylie Helton, and Lainey Drewett. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Suggs, of Clarksville, Tenn., and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Monk was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years.
Mrs. Monk was employed for many years as the Supervisor of Housekeeping at Jefferson Regional Medical Hospital and for 28 years at the Department of Human Services.
Mrs. Monk loved gardening and had one of the most beautiful yards in her neighborhood, often having strangers stop to ask about a certain flower or shrub or to take pictures when in bloom. She also had a special pet, a dog, named Halo, who traveled everywhere with her.
For the past year, Mrs. Monk resided at the Cleveland County Nursing Home in Rison where she was lovingly cared for by the many wonderful nurses and aides.
Graveside services will be Feb. 16, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6707 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff. Arrangements are by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors.

Marguerite Ringuette
Marguerite Ringuette, age 94, of Pine Bluff, died Feb. 9, 2009.
Born Oct. 14, 1914, in Braintree, Mass., and was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clifford Michael Ringuette; her parents, Catherine Neville Boyle and Thomas Edward Boyle; and sisters, Evelyn Rollo and Alice Russell. She was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., as an execute secretary for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen Day (Lawrence) of Hyattsville, Md., Elaine Felsman (Robert) of Pine Bluff, and Denise Doetzer (Stewart) of Goochland, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be Feb. 18, 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church in Riverdale, Md. Internment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Md. Local arrangements by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Dorothy Lee Turner
Mrs. Dorothy Lee Turner, 74 of Pine Bluff, died Feb. 10, 2009. She was born in Moscow to the late Wade Kelly and Lucy Butler.
Her survivors include son, Darryl Turner of Glenn Heights, Texas; daughter, Tanya Council of Detroit, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Services: Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Old St. James Baptist Church by Rev. David M. Smith at 2 p.m. Burial: Forrest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation: Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The body will lie in state at the church from 1:15 p.m. until time of service.
The family will be at 2809 Colonial Ave., Pine Bluff, Ark.
Wilma Holdford
MONTICELLO — Wilma Ruth McMillan Holdford, age 81, of Monticello passed away Feb. 14, 2009, at Monticello Health Care in Monticello, Ark. Born in Clark County, Ark., on July 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Cecil McMillan & Hattie Elizabeth Gates McMillan. She was raised by her late step mother, Duena Gates McMillan.
She was the widow of James M. Holdford, a retired seamstress and a Baptist. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Jane Holdford; a brother, William McMillan and a sister, Charlene McMillan.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Wigley and husband, Marshall of Monticello; one brother, Eddie McMillan and wife, Molly of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Martha Nan Lockwood and husband, Jim, and Anna Burroughs and husband, Calvin, all of Hot Springs; her granddaughter, Maxann Leigh Wigley Mizell and husband, Clint, of Monticello; three great-grandchildren, Lawton Alan Wigley Smith, Kelby Rae Smith and Karter Marie Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Ark., by Rev. Al Womack. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
Howard Robinson
Howard Benjamin Robinson Sr., 60, of Star City died Thursday. He was born May 9, 1948, in Star City to Eve Harrison and the late Bennie Robinson. He was a retired ironworker and crew foreman. He attended Overcoming Faith Worship Center in Star City.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Eve and Jack Bates of Star City; son, Howard B. Robinson Jr., of Fayetteville; daughter, Katie Garret of Fort Smith; brother, Alton Robinson of Star City; sister, Angie Mae Hall of Little Rock; grandchildren, Aiden Robinson, Brooklyn Robinson, Christian Robinson and Ava Garret.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Brother Don Borland will officiate. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
Bernard Gardner
IRVING — Mr. Bernard Albert Gardner Jr., 30 of Irving, Texas, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Feb., 10, 2009. He was born in Pine Bluff to Carol and Bernard Gardner Sr., of Pine Bluff.
He was a member of Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1996, where he was a member of Zebra football team. In 2004, he graduated from University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He was employed by Countrywide Financial.
His survivors include: sisters, Tajuana Smith of Irving, Texas, Carla Borkins, Laketa Carpenter and Roshonda Jones; grandfather, Rev. Leo Gardner; grandmothers, Cornelius Battles, Katie Gardner and Evelena Gardner, all of Pine Bluff.
Services: Feb. 16, 2009, at Indiana Street Baptist Church by Rev. L.K. Solomon at 11 a.m. Burial: Forrest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation: Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10:15 a.m. until time of service.
