Mary Clark
Mary Clark, 83, of Pine Bluff died Sunday.
Born at Altheimer, she was the daughter of the late Limmie and Alphonsia Davis.
Survivors: son, Elijah Clark of Pine Bluff; brother, David Lee Davis of Chicago; three grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Lebanon Cemetery at Hooker by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 3516 W. Short Third Ave.
Lula Handy
Lula Handy, 86, of Pine Bluff departed this life Feb. 28, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mary Butler.
She was preceded in death by a son, Will Hopkins; brother, James Jones; and husband, Jesse Handy.
She is survived by two sons, Sam Hopkins of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Willie (Gloria) Anthony of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at First Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:15 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be today at Christian Way Funeral Home.
Kenneth Bailey
Kenneth Lavoy “Beetle” Bailey, 86, a resident of Brinkley and formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, in Brinkley.
Born Nov. 16, 1922, in Star City, he was a son of Jay A. and Janie Anderson Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was reared and received his early education in Woodlawn. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. Mr. Bailey was a United States Army veteran of the Pacific Theater.
Kenneth Lavoy Bailey married Dorothy Sipes in Rowell, on March 27, 1943. He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 30 years, retiring as a switchman in 1986.
Mr. Bailey was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff. He was a former deacon, trustee, and church treasurer. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Sipes Bailey; his parents; three brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Floyd Ray of Brinkley; grandson, Bryan Ray of Little Rock; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Keri and Jeff Burroughs of Vilonia; two special great-grandchildren, Macy and Zackhary Burroughs of Vilonia.
The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, March 6, 2009, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Royce Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.

Laura Moore
BENTON — Laura Jean Moore, 90, of Benton, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Saline Memorial Home Health and Hospice Care in Benton.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in North Little Rock, daughter of Walter and Mae Lovell Harrison.
Mrs. Moore was reared and received her early education in Sherrill.
She worked for the Ben Pearson Company for 30 years.
Mrs. Moore was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward V. Moore, whom she married in 1950 in Pine Bluff; her parents; grandchild, Jamie Lynn Handley; brother, John Harrison; and sister, Cynthia Camp.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Handley and wife, Ronnie of Benton, and John E. Moore and wife, Nancy of Little Rock; brother, Walter Harrison of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; sister, Emma Robinson of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Jennifer Franklin and husband, Randall of Benton, Taylor Moore and wife, Laura of Little Rock, Jill Irwin and husband, Mike of Maumelle and Nathan Moore of Seattle, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren, Kara and Jessica Franklin, Luke Irwin and Adelyn Moore.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Chris Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson’s.

DERMOTT — Mamie Mae Carter, 62, of Dermott died Feb. 25 at the McGehee Hospital.
She was born March 28, 1946, at Helena, a daughter of the late Willie Hill and Lula Shields.
Survivors: one son, Willie Lee Hill of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Lula Jones of Atlanta, and Kattie Jordan of Dermott; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott with the Rev. Rickie Lattimore officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery by Davis-Strickland Funeral Home at Dermott.

Ella Jordan
DUMAS — Mrs. Ella Smith Jordan, 52, of Dumas, Ark., died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Star City Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo., she was a daughter of Mr. Frank Smith of Kansas City, Mo., and the late Nancy Mitchell Smith.
She was a member of Jerusalem MBC in Dumas, where she was a past Sunday school teacher and choir member and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Jordan of Dumas; one son, Deanthony Smith of Newport, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Matlock and Vicki Smith, both of Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Jerusalem MBC in Dumas with Rev. W.M. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery at Backgate by Brown Funeral Home of Dumas.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

FORDYCE — Mae Rose Turner, 49, of Fordyce died Feb. 27.
Survivors include children, Robert White, Tracy Turner, James Turner and Tammy Turner, all of Fordyce; stepchildren, David Turner Jr. of Fort Smith and Darlene Adams of Atlanta; and siblings, Samuel Foster and Sandra Foster, both of Las Vegas.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Church at Fordyce. Arrangements are by Marks Funeral Home at Fordyce.
Troy Hedden
GRAPEVINE — Troy John Hedden, age 103, of Grapevine, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Cleveland County Nursing Home in Rison.
He was born July 24, 1905, in Grapevine, a son of the late Sam and Rosie Finley Hedden.
Mr. Hedden retired from International Paper Company working in the timber industry, and was a charter member of Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Taylor Hedden; four brothers, Willie, Lee, Ted and Bud Hedden; three sisters, Edna Ross Curtis, Clydie Rundel, and Elise Shultz.
Mr. Hedden is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Sue Hedden of Grapevine; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Travis Welch of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Donna Hamilton of Jefferson, Darrell (Peggy) Hedden of Redfield, Dwight (Tiffany) Hedden of Grapevine, Tracy (Amy) Welch of White Hall; six great-grandchildren, Alex and Emily Welch, Jessica Lunsford, Alana Beth Hedden, Matthew Hedden, Louis Hamilton; two great-great-grandchildren, Alissa and Gus Hedden.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church in Grapevine with Rev. James Foster and Rev. C.M. Carey officiating.

MANSFIELD — Ruthie Mae Bentley, 67, of Mansfield, died Sunday at Fort Smith.
She was born July 19, 1942, at Watson, a daughter of the late Levi Lane and Lucille Owens.
Survivors: four daughters, Sandra Harris of Killeen, Texas, Cheryl Grant of Mansfield, Kristie Bentley Pigford and Tiffany Bentley, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Louise Coleman of Pine Bluff, Barbara Burns of Mesquite, Texas, and Addie Mae of Topeka, Kan.; six brothers; and six grandchildren.

Erlene Jordan
MONTICELLO — Erlene Jordan, age 93, of Monticello, passed away March 4, 2009, at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Bradley County, Ark.
She was the widow of Eugene Jordan Sr., a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick DeArmond and Lottie Grubbs DeArmond; a son, Kenneth Jordan; and three brothers, Garner DeArmond, Carlyle DeArmond and Dale DeArmond.
Survivors include one son, Eugene Jordan and wife, Alice of Monticello; one brother, Bobby DeArmond of Conroe, Texas; three grandchildren, John Jordan and wife, Gloria, Genie Crouch and husband, David and Charlie Jordan; one great-grandchild, J.J. Jordan and wife, Candace.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Union Ridge Cemetery.

REDFIELD — Mr. Nathaniel Mosby Jr. of Redfield died Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
He was born in Ferda to the late Nathaniel and Mary Mosby Sr.
Survivors: wife, Velma Mosby of Redfield; sons, James Mosby, Randolph Mosby, both of Little Rock, Roger Mosby of Tucker, Frederick Mosby, Rev. Nathaniel Mosby III, both of Redfield, Ricky Mosby Jeter of Pine Bluff; daughters, Dorothy Jackson of Monrovia, Calif., Belinda Adams of Pine Bluff; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Billy Parker
RISON — Billy Earl Parker, 77, of Rison, died Tuesday, March 3.
He was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Rison, and graduated from Rison High School in 1950. He married Estelle Cooper on Nov. 9, 1957. Mr. Parker belonged to Culpepper Masonic Lodge 186, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a retired accountant and business owner.
Mr. Parker belonged to Rison UMC and was preceded in death by an uncle, Frank Parker.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Estelle Cooper Parker of Rison; one daughter, Suzi Parker of Little Rock.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Rison UMC.
Johnny Washington Jr.
SHERRILL — Johnny Washington Jr., 64, of Sherrill, Ark., died Feb. 22, 2009, in Sherrill, Ark.
He was born June 24, 1944, in Altheimer, Ark., to the late Johnny and Oral Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Annie Watson and Johnetta Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Washington of Sherrill, Ark.; five sons, Melvin Martin, Kenneth Miller and Marion Miller, all of Pine Bluff, Ark., Johnny Washington II of Magnolia, Ark., and Bobby Washington of Milwaukee, Wis.; six daughters, Margaret Marshall and Gwendolyn Grayson, both of Pine Bluff, Marylyn Graydon of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Washington, Loriane Washington and Diane Washington, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; four brothers, James Graydon Jr., Leotis Graydon and Claude Graydon, all of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Alford Graydon of Jacksonville, Ark.; three sisters, Osie Graydon and Mae Graydon, both of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Masell Graydan of Jacksonville, Ark.; 53 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

WARREN — Willie Frances Chance, 78, of Warren died Wednesday at Arkansas Hospice at Little Rock.
Born July 18, 1930, in Queen City, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Joe Arrington and Pearl Estelle Coats Arrington.
Survivors include two sons, James Chance and the Rev. Robert Chance; one daughter, Diann Tisdale; one sister, Marie Harrison; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Markevious Jackson, 24, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Dumas, Ark., died Monday at Fort Wayne.
He was born July 16, 1984, at Pine Bluff, a son of Mary Jackson.
Other survivors include one brother, Jonathan Jackson; one sister, Marzella Jackson; and his stepfather, Gregory Jackson.
