March 12, 1949
FAYETTEVILLE — John L. McClellan Jr., 23-year-old son of Senator McClellan (D-Ark.), died at the veterans administration hospital here shortly before 9 a.m. today.
Young McClellan, a second-year law student at the University of Arkansas, was injured in an automobile accident near Rogers, Ark., Wednesday night.
Senator McClellan was en route to Fayetteville this morning after attending reburial services for another son, Pvt. Max E. McClellan, who died in North Africa in 1943.

Harvey Mize of 7010 Sheridan Road, has filed for Jefferson County justice of the peace, Position 10, in the May 25 Democratic primary elections.
Mize, 49, owns and operates Mize Plumbing Company at his home address.
A Mississippi native, Mize moved to Pine Bluff at an early age. He is a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mize and his wife, the former Doris Currington, have twin daughters, Melissa and Melida.
