Miss Ophelia White, 17, died at the Davis hospital at 7 o’clock this morning and Clyde Smithwick, 18 and his sister, Miss Iris, 19, are in the hospital in critical condition as a result of an accident on the Sheridan pike yesterday afternoon about 5 o’clock.
The three young people, in a Ford roadster, were returning from a ride on the Sheridan pike and when the car reached a point about three miles west of the Dew Drop Inn it apparently struck loose gravel and was thrown from the road, turning over three or four times.
The car was practically demolished and the exact cause of the accident is not known. While it is attributed to loose gravel, the car may have been thrown from the road when one of the tires went down.
