DEATHS FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2009

Atreshia Hampton

Atreshia M. Hampton, 23, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Warren, died March 12 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

She was the daughter of Jerry Hampton and Katrina Hampton of Warren.

Other survivors include one brother, Lajerry R. Walton of Warren; one sister, Shamonica L. Hampton of Crossett; and grandmother, Aretha Brown of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James AME Church at Warren with the Rev. T.R. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery at Monticello by Reddick Funeral Home at Camden.

Visitation: 6-7 p.m. today at the church.

Carl McCraney Sr.

Carl Lee McCraney Sr., 74, Pine Bluff, died Tuesday.

He was a son of the late Lee McCraney and Ardella McCraney.

He was a member and the oldest deacon at Eudora Baptist Church.

Survivors: wife, Latacus McCraney; children, Darrell Reese, Tara Weatherspoon, Carl McCraney Jr.; sister, Catherine Williams; and five grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ula Maye Jones, Betty Jean McMurray and Marcaline Odoms.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Solomon Hill Baptist Church at Pine Bluff with the Rev. Elvert McKnight officiating. Arrangements are by Robinson Mortuary at Little Rock.

Visitation: 1-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Tracey Watters

Tracey Renee Watters, age 42, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009.

She was born Aug. 16, 1966, in Lake Village, a daughter of Glenn Alan Hubbard of Pine Bluff and the late Sheldia Burrough Johnson.

Mrs. Watters was a 1984 graduate of Dollarway High School and had been a cake decorator for Wal-Mart. She was a member of Oak Park Free Will Baptist Church and attended White Hall United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Watters was also preceded in death by one sister, LaShea Hubbard; one brother, Alan Hubbard.

Mrs. Watters is survived by her husband, Steve Watters; son, Cameron Daniel; daughter, Lauren Williams; father, Glenn Alan Hubbard; grandparents, Roy and Aline Burrough; father and mother-in-law, Ruben and Floyce Watters; aunt, Dana Barraclough and husband Ray, uncle, Steve Burrough and wife Diane, all of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at White Hall United Pentecostal Church in White Hall with Rev. A. D. Hall and Rev. Bryan Kesterson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to time of service. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.

Billy Hobbs

GREEN HILL — Billy Hobbs, 83, of Green Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at JRMC in Pine Bluff.

He was born July 19, 1925, in Bradley County.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, May Pace Hobbs of Green Hill; one son, Billy Ray Hobbs and wife, Christine of Lakewood, Calif.; two grandsons, Wayne Hobbs and Matt Dempsey of California; three granddaughters, twins Lisa Shrock and Michele Caronza of California, and Nicole Dempsey of California; two great-grandchildren, Audrey Hobbs and Payton Shrock of California.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at the Green Hill Baptist Church. Burial in Green Hill Cemetery by Stephenson-Dearman.

Memorials to American Cancer Society.

Gracie Broughton

MALVERN — Mrs. Grace Mae Broughton, 79, of Malvern, formerly of Fordyce, died Sunday, March 15, 2009.

She was born to the late Clifton Miller and Blanchie Vaughn.

Survivors: sons, Charles Broughton Jr., Cheapell Broughton, both of Malvern; daughters, Barbara Marshall, Gracie House, both of Malvern, Linda Berry of Bearden; sister, Betty Dixon of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenville First Baptist Church in Fordyce by Rev. I.L. McDaniel. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery by Brown-Williams Funeral Home of Fordyce.

Visitation is today from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be at 904 E. Page St., Malvern, Ark.

Elizabeth Annulis

MONTICELLO — Elizabeth (Libby) Bruce Annulis of Monticello, Ark., died on Sunday March 15, 2009, at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Libby was born Aug. 3, 1945, in Fordyce, Ark., to Imon and Catherine Bruce.

She received her BA degree from South Arkansas University and her MA in mathematics from the University of New Mexico. Libby served as information technology director with the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John T Annulis; two daughters, Laura Annulis Wallen (Chris) of Sedalia, Mo., and Leah Catherine Annulis and her fianc/, Stephen Youngblood of Little Rock; her mother, Catherine Bruce of Magnolia, Ark.; two sisters, Jane Bruce of Fearrington Village, N.C., and Carolyn Bruce of Rockledge, Fla.; and grandson, Ian Wallen of Sedalia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Imon Bruce.

Libby volunteered and provided leadership to many service organizations.

A memorial service celebrating Libby’s life will be held Friday, March 20, 2009, at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church of Monticello, Ark.

The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Landscape Fund, Southeast Arkansas Concert Association, Monticello Branch Library.

Arthur Piper

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Arthur O. Piper, age 89, of North Little Rock, formerly of Monticello, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Baptist Springhill in North Little Rock.

He was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Drew County, to the late Harry Piper and Viola Stephenson Piper.

He was a retired Air Force veteran of WWII, a Mason and a member of Gardner United Methodist Church in North Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and a granddaughter, Piper Graves.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Etheridge Piper of North Little Rock; one daughter, Phyllis Graves of North Little Rock; and one granddaughter, Carolyn Graves of Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Burial in Green Hill Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites.

Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Richard Kervin

SHERIDAN — Richard Kervin, 52, of Sheridan died Tuesday.

He was a son of Opal Elizabeth Fore Kervin.

Other survivors include one daughter, Amanda Benning; two brothers, Bill Kervin and Dan Kervin; two sisters, Susan Elders and Lisa Lloyd; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.

Jewel Brown

STAR CITY — Jewel Elaine Eldridge Brown, 54, of Star City died March 10.

She was born Feb. 13, 1955, at Brenham, Texas, a daughter of Jewel M. Kennedy and the late Dave Eldridge.

Other survivors: husband, Charles Brown; one son, Tommy Brown Jr.; two daughters, Melinda Stanley and Candi Hunsaker; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services: 6 p.m. Saturday at the home of Charles Brown, 329 King Road, Star City. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Service at Star City.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Home Care Foundation, 1501 N. University, Suite 340, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.

Dean Johnson

WARREN — Dean Johnson, 77, of Warren died Tuesday at Bradley County Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1931, at Hermitage, a son of the late David Allen Johnson and Geneva Hines Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Johnson; three daughters, Redeana Robinson of Warren, Brenda Chancellor of El Dorado and Shawn Parker of Rye; one brother, Donald Lee Johnson of Hot Springs; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Frazer’s Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Hall

WATSON — William Clarence Swopes Hall, 16, of Watson died Friday at McGehee.

He was born Sept. 17, 1992, at Little Rock, a son of Aretha Swopes of Watson.

He was a student at Jodi Patridge Center and was a member of Tabernacle of Faith at Gould.

Other survivors include grandparents, Benard “Hump Swopes and Mable Swopes, both of Watson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Love Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Watson. Burial will be in Rolling Water Cemetery at Kelso by Griffin Funeral Home at Dumas.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Richard Jamerson, 94, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Clyde Jordan Jr., 67, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday at Arkansas Hospice at Little Rock. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Christian Way Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
