WHITE HALL—The hiring of Tammie Canada of Brownsville, Tenn. and Beverly Overturf of El Dorado to replace two retiring elementary principals was approved Tuesday evening at a special meeting of the White Hall School Board.
The administrators have been selected to fill the positions of George Connell, Taylor Elementary School principal, and Dan Mincy, Hardin Elementary School principal.
“I felt really good about all of the candidates we interviewed,” White Hall School District Superintendent Dr. Larry Smith said. “The gap between all of them wasn’t very big when you look at their qualifications.”
Smith said Overturf and Canada have not yet been assigned to specific schools and district administrators would begin today considering how each individual’s strengths match the needs of the schools.
Canada is employed as principal of East Side Elementary School at Brownsville, Tenn. and Overturf is principal of Union School at El Dorado.
Both hires are conditional pending results of criminal records checks, verification of job experience, presentation of official transcripts and valid Arkansas teaching certificates.
