Abbott Goodwin Jr.

T. Abbott Goodwin Jr., 81, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of T. Abbott Goodwin Sr. and Ilene Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin was reared and received his early education in Alexandria, La., graduating from Bolton High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea.

He worked for Arkansas Power and Light for 43 years.

Mr. Goodwin was a member of the Optimist Club and American Legion.

He was a faithful and hardworking volunteer with youth sports. Mr. Goodwin is a member of the Babe Ruth Baseball Hall of Fame for his service of over 40 years as district and state commissioner and assistant Southwest Regional commissioner. He volunteered at the Pine Bluff Boys Club (now Seabrook YMCA) coaching baseball, basketball and boxing. Mr. Goodwin also coached in the Golden Gloves boxing program, Connie Mack baseball and American Legion baseball.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Annette Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Roberts Goodwin, whom he married Oct. 29, 1962, in Pine Bluff; daughter, Donna Rush and her husband, Marshall Morgan Rush, of Pine Bluff; son, Tracy Abbott Goodwin of Clarendon; and three grandchildren, Mason Rush of White Hall, McKinley Rush of Pine Bluff and Mattison Rush of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2009, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Rick Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson’s.

Nadine Patton

Nadine Cockrell Patton, age 88, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, May 4, 2009.

Born March 11, 1921, at Almyra, Ark., she was a daughter of the late James B. Keaton and Delia Porter Keaton.

She was a homemaker, and a 60-plus-year member of Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church. She also was a rural mail carrier for 19 years, a member of the United Methodist Women, and the PBNB Crown Club.

Nadine was predeceased by two husbands, Samuel M. Cockrell and Clint Patton; a daughter, Beverly Cockrell; and two brothers, Morland Keaton and James Keaton.

Survivors include three sons, Barry Cockrell (Mollie), David Cockrell (Jeannette), and Sammy Cockrell (Karen); one daughter, Donna Stewart (James); a sister, Shirley Cryan; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brothers George Odell and Pete Beavers officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Pinecrest Cemetery in Little Rock.

Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beverly Hartloff

SHERIDAN — Beverly Tate Hartloff of Sheridan, Ark., was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Hughes, Ark., the daughter of the late Everette DeWitt and Dora Mae Spivey Tate.

She was of the Baptist faith. She had retired as a deli manager from Kentucky Avenue Kroger, Indianapolis.

Mrs. Hartloff entered into heaven on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 70.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Everett “Bill” Tate.

Survivors: daughters, Vickie (Johnny) Nelson of Sheridan, Kim (Rusty) Burnett of Sheridan, Amy (Randy) Anderson of Indianapolis, Ind.; sons, William “Bubba” (Pam) Harris of Hughes, Scott (Ruth) Harris of Marion, Ricky Barkley, Michael (Rob) Barkley, Gene (Roxie) Barkley, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Jon Tate of Hughes; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday at Crittenden Memorial Cemetery in West Memphis.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayes, Andrew Cromeans, Brian Lain, Kevin Dunn, Curtis Burnett, Rusty Burnett and Michael Smith.

Gary Blasingame

STAR CITY — Gary Lynn Blasingame, 49, of Star City died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at his brother’s home in Pottsville.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Blasingame Nowlin; daughters, Lauren Blasingame, Kary Allred and husband, Alan, Rachel Blasingame; grandchildren, Brennon Allred, Morgan Allred, Shaddix Blasingame; and brother, Clifton Blasingame.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Gene Blasingame; and brothers, Mike Blasingame and Glen Blasingame.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a reception 12 p.m. Friday at the home of Mary Murphy on Airport Road in Star City.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Star City. There will be no visitation.

Randy Lackey

WHITE HALL — Randy Lackey, age 49, of White Hall, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

Born Jan. 20, 1960, at Pine Bluff, he was a son of Eugene Lackey and Bernice Morris Lackey of White Hall.

He was a machine operator at Hood Packaging for 25 years.

He was a member of the Condors Motorcycle Club and was a member of ABATE No. 20 for a number of years.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Lackey.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kristina Burks Lackey; fianc/e, Hazel Tillman; brothers, Tommy Shipman and Mark Lackey.

Funeral: Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Ray Cuthbertson and Jeff Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
