Richard Coursey

SHERIDAN — Richard Coursey, 76, of Sheridan died Thursday.

He was predeceased by a son, James.

Survivors: Sons, Richard of Tenn., Bradley of Sheridan; three sisters, Opal Edwards, Christine Carter, Peggy Pratt; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services: Tuesday 2 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery near Sheridan.

Visitation: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Ruth Stubbs

SHERIDAN — Ruth Koon Stubbs of Sheridan, Ark., was born July 27, 1917, at Sheridan, the daughter of the late Henry and Sophronia Puckett Koon. She was a member of Hope Pentecostal Church and was employed by Sheridan School Cafeteria Association and was a caregiver at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Stubbs died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 91. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bert Stubbs; grandson, Wilford Stokes Kemp Jr.; brother, Boyce Koon; sisters, Alice Donaldson, Inez Harrington, Joelma Swindal, Eula Ross, Edna Crutchfield, Jewell Koon and Faye Williams.

Survivors include her son, Marvin and wife Linda Stubbs of Sheridan; daughters, Gladys Kyzer of West Memphis, Henrietta and husband Hugo Bustamante of Bella Vista, and Kathryn and husband Don Bell of Sheridan; brother, Raymond and wife Margaret Koon of Sheridan; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Rev. Walt Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m.

Henry Sparks

STAR CITY — Henry Earl Sparks, 85, of Star City formerly of Stuttgart, died Thursday. He was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Thayer, Mo., to the late Jim and Doris Capitola Grooms Sparks.

Also preceding him in death was a son, Eddie Earl Sparks; sister, Ethel Sparks; and brother, Eddie Sparks.

Survivors: Wife, Emma Lee Sparks; one daughter; one step-son; one step-daughter; three sisters; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Burial: Holly Springs Cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City.

Wilma Summitt

ANDERSON, Ind. — Wilma D. Summitt died May 20, 2009, at Edgewater Woods Nursing Home in Anderson, Ind. She had lived in Anderson for 49 years.

Born December 27, 1927, at Keevil, Monroe County, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Thornton Summitt, Sr. and Lena Covey Summitt.

Survivors: sister, Frances Summitt Vance, Anderson, IN; brothers, Gordon T. (JoAnn) Summitt, Jr. Plano, TX; William R. Summitt, Burleson, TX; and James W. (Pat) Summitt, Pataskala, OH. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Anna Summitt Stewart, Jeanette Summitt Delaney; brother, Charles K. Summitt.

Visitation: Robinson Funeral Home, Pine Bluff on May 27 from 10 a.m-noon with graveside services following in Graceland Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Zelma Hunter

LAS VEGAS — Zelma Louise Hunter, 94, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Pine Bluff died Saturday at her home.

Funeral services for her will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at New St. Hurricane MBC, the Revs. Lorenzo Jones and James M. Hutchins officiating.

She was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Fairfield, Ark., daughter of the late Lewis and Cherry Fletcher.

She was reared in Tarry, Ark., and received her early education at Mt. Olive School.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Ellis Nelson, and Eddie Hunter Sr.; two brothers, Jeremiah Fletcher, and James Fletcher; one sister, Frankie Fletcher; and one son, Isaac Nelson.

She retired from Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, where she worked for 15 years.

Survivors: Three sons, Clester (Odessa) Nelson of Las Vegas, Eddie (Josephine) Hunter of Huntsville, Ala., Theotis (Shirley) Hunter Frisco of Texas; one brother, John Fletcher of Flint, Mich.; one sister, Freddie M. Rollins of Pine Bluff; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in New Macedonia Cemetery at Tarry, Ark., by Perry Funeral Home.

The family will have private visitation Sunday at the funeral home. The family will be at Freddie M. Rollins home at 607 N. Maple St.

Active pallbearers: Taur Hunter, Tishque Hunter, Orlando Wright, Vincent Wright, Antoine Johnson, Torii Hunter, Tramar Hunter and Brandon Thurman.
