A.B. Lowe, prominent Jefferson county planter who already had extensive farm holdings in that vicinity, recently became the owner of the little city of Ellisson, situated between Altheimer and Sherrill, and soon will begin an improvement program there.
Through purchasing the land on which stands Ellisson, Lowe became the owner of a complete town.
He plans immediately the erection of a two-story 30-feet by 80-feet store building and also will erect a modern residence there.
E.P. Ladd, of Ladd, planter, merchant and ginner, will install a modern cotton gin at Ellisson.

PITTSBURGH — The current issue of the Pittsburgh Courier, national Negro weekly, quotes General Douglas MacArthur as saying:
“I did not create Negro units in the United States armed forces. They were created in Washington and sent to me as already organized Jim Crow units. I did not ask for Negro nor for white men. I asked Washington for ‘men’ and accepted what Washington sent me.”
