LOS ANGELES — John Barrymore received the final blessing of the Roman Catholic church today.

Father John O’Donnell, who administrated extreme unction to Barrymore shortly before his death Friday night, officiated at the requiem mass.

Parties yesterday and today honored girls in the Pine Bluff high school graduating class. Mrs. Fred Ferguson and Miss Freda Ferguson entertained yesterday at a luncheon at the Airport club.

Guests included: Emma Louise Trotter, Mary Lambert, Marilyn Tomlinson, Snooky Baim, Elizabeth McNemar, Allie Bess Atkins, Josephine Toney, Caroline Triplett, Charlotte Wood, Martha Ryland, Catherine Sue Hunter, Patsy Lee, Grace Jones and Betty Dene Miller.

June 2, 1968

EASTON, Conn. — Helen Keller, who triumphed over blindness and deafness to devote her life to helping those “less fortunate than myself,” died yesterday at her home here. She would have been 88 on June 27.

Mrs. C.E. Massanelli Jr. of 2504 Belmoor Drive was named Cotillion Girl of 1968 at the Girls Cotillion Club’s annual spring dance held at the Holiday Inn.

Mr. and Mrs. Dwight W. Pipes of Route 7 are the parents of a daughter, Kristie Diane, born on May 21 at Jefferson Hospital. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Pipes of Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Lennox Price of El Dorado.

A son, Brian Allen, was born on May 30 at Jefferson Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. James David Thompson of Route 1. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Pitner E. Thompson and Mr. and Ms. James C. Hope, all of Pine Bluff. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W.I. Condry and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest B. Hope, all of Pine Bluff.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy McLemore of 304 S. Myrtle are the parents of a son, William Corey, born on May 28 at Jefferson Hospital. Grandparents are Mrs. Marie Carter Echols of Monticello and Guy Echols of Pine Bluff. The baby’s great-grandmother is Mrs. S. C. McLemore of Wilmar.
