Pine Bluff is to have women taxicab drivers.
Carl Johnson, owner of the 44 Taxicab company, said only expert drivers are to be hired. The women will drive only during the daytime.
The shift from men to women drivers in daytime will be made as soon as qualified women drivers are employed.
Employing women will relieve men for army, and also for war-project employment.
Mr. Johnson pointed out that women taxi drivers are no novelty in many parts of the country.
Examination and tests of all women applicants will be thorough, Mr. Johnson said.
