JAMES AKINS

James W. Akins, 57, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his home in Pine Bluff.

Born June 26, 1951, in Mt. Ida, he was a son of James Clifford and Rhoda Lizzie Stigall Akins.

James was reared and received his early education in Benton. He worked as a construction superintendent for Smithwick Construction and Real Estate, Inc. for over thirty years. James was a regular attendee of Cherrywood Assembly of God Church in Redfield.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Amelia Akins of Pine Bluff; one sister, Nada Adams of Mansfield, Texas; daughter, Kelly Bullard of Redfield; son, Keith Brown of San Antonio, Texas; three grandsons, Michael Marini of Redfield, Dustin Bullard and Zachary Bullard of Redfield; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Brown of San Antonio; great-grandson, Weston Marini of Redfield; two stepsons, Bernard Reams and Andre Williams of Pine Bluff; five step-grandchildren, Shakel Dudley, Kathy Landley, Eniya Hernandez, Emmaree Ewing, and Isabella Hernandez of Missouri.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Cherrywood Assembly of God Church with Reverend Glen Flemmons officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Burial will be at a later date.
