More than four ounces of marijuana, including two growing marijuana plants, were seized Tuesday after authorities served a search warrant at a house in the Dollarway area and two residents were arrested on multiple drug related charges.

During a court hearing Wednesday, Circuit Judge Berlin Jones ruled prosecutors had probable cause to charge Charles Long, 23, and Janice Long, 21, with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacturing a controlled substance, and set their bonds at $10,000 each.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Brett Talley, Deputy Prosecutor Rik Ramsey said police vice and narcotics detectives and agents from the Tri-County Drug Task Force served the warrant at 5212 Bullock St. and detained several people while the search was conducted.

Ramsey said officers found a total of 4.7 ounces of a green vegetable substance that field tested positive for marijuana, as well as two small marijuana plants that were growing in drinking glasses filled with water.

He said officers also located smoking pipes, plastic bags, digital scales, and other drug related paraphernalia inside the residence.

The judge appointed the public defender’s office to represent Charles Long and Janice Long, who Ramsey said had no prior felony convictions.

The two were told to come back to court July 6 at 9 a.m.
