MARY MURPHY

STAR CITY — Mary Harper Murphy, 83, of Star City died Thursday in Benton.

She was born April 25, 1926, in Star City, to the late Felix and Mary Ophelia Hawkins Harper.

She was a cosmetologist and beautician and she was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Star City.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, James Dudley Murphy Sr.; and a brother, Harold Harper.

Survivors include two sons, James Dudley Murphy Jr. of Benton, Thomas William Murphy of Texarkana, Texas; three brothers, Martin Harper of Redfield, Robert Harper of Star City, James Lavon Harper of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Verniece McGehee, Dorothy Blasingame Nowlin, Martha Louise Bailey, all of Star City; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in Star City. Bro. Elmer Byerly will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Pine Bluff.
