A second driver died Saturday evening following a head-on collision on U.S. 270.
Cheri Snyder, 39, of Star City, was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
The driver of a vehicle that swerved into Snyder’s lane, Donald Cagle, 38, of Sheridan, died at the scene and was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m.
The collision occurred west of White Hall at about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 270 and Evans Road.
State Trooper Jassen Travis said a blue 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling east, now known to have been driven by Cagle, swerved into the westbound lane of the highway striking Snyder’s vehicle, a red 1997 Ford Escort.
Travis confirmed there was an open alcohol container in Cagle’s vehicle.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
