CHARLOTTE SCHARNHORST


Charlotte Moose Scharnhorst, 81, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 2, 1927, in Truman, Ark., she was a daughter of Dorman and Bonnybelle G. Moose.

Mrs. Scharnhorst was reared and received her early education in Huntsville, Ala. She was a 1945 graduate of Huntsville Alabama High School. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss. Mrs. Scharnhorst moved to Pine Bluff in 1952.

Mrs. Scharnhorst began her career as a medical technologist at Medical Associates and Pine Bluff Medical Laboratory, where she worked for 15 years. She then worked at Davis Hospital for 11 years. She then went to work at Jefferson Hospital for eleven years, retiring in 1993.

Mrs. Scharnhorst was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxilliary of Post 4455 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Bluff City chapter of the American Business Womens Association, the Jefferson County Geneological Society, the Arts and Science Center, and John McAlmont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Scharnhorst was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ann Gann of Pine Bluff; one son, Robert George Scharnhorst of Pine Bluff; one grandson, Stephen Todd Pierce of Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Heather Ashley Gann Dunemn of Pine Bluff; one step-grandson, James Christopher Gann of Searcy; one great-granddaughter, Leah Addison Dunemn of Pine Bluff; one step-great-granddaughter, Maitland Rose Gann of Searcy.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, July 1, 2009, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland by Ralph Robinson & Son.
