Mr. Roosevelt Word passed away peacefully on June 25, 2009.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1948, in Pine Bluff, to Johnetta Word Holmes.
Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age at New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, while under the leadership of Rev. Albert King. He graduated from Southeast High School. He later moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where he was employed as a factory worker for more than 30 years. Roosevelt returned to Pine Bluff in 1998.
He was a member of Steward Memorial Church, where he remained a faithful and active member until his death.
Survivors include wife, Brenda Word; son, Lavell Word; daughters, Lawana Guy and Alesha Roberson; stepson, Ronnie Haynes; stepdaughters, Latonjuana O’Bryant, Lakesha McCray, Tennetta Wilson, Queshaun Gonder, Judith Brantley and LaTrina Greer; brothers, James Word, Earl Holmes and Carl Holmes; sisters, Rosetta Morgan, Cozyetta Trice and Doris Starlard; two granddaughters; uncle, Walter Word; great-aunt, Ruby Word.
His services will be Friday, July 3, 2009, at New St. Hurricane MBC by Rev. Warren Bridges at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
The family will be at 1801 W. 11th Ave., Pine Bluff, Ark.
