JIMMY SMITH

Jimmy C. Smith age 84, a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009.

Jimmy was born April 29, 1925 in the old Davis Hospital, the son of the late George C. Smith and Janet Johnson Smith.

He graduated form Pine Bluff High School in 1944, and was a Baptist.

At the age of 12 years, he won the Pine Bluff Men's Tennis Championship, and then again in 1939. In 1940, he won the state Novice Division. He later played on several independent basketball and fast-pitch softball teams.

He was retired from Georgia-Pacific Multi-wall Bag Plant,

and was predeceased by a son, Robert Brooks Smith.

Jimmy is survived by daughters, Kathryne Colette Babin and Brenda Beaceemier; step-daughters, Susan Lyles and and Brenda Power; step-son, Barry Scott Greenlee; grandson, Michael Brooks Blount; and many loving friends and family.

A Memorial Gathering will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
