LOS ANGELES — Three of Hollywood’s most famous figures — Charles Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, all of whom were pioneers in the film industry — are indicated as the screen colony’s three wealthiest individuals in tax assessment rolls published today.
Chaplin — Taxable stocks and bonds, $7,687,570; cash and solvent credits, $295,000.
Pickford — Stocks, $2,316,940; foreign trusts, $176,190; and real estate, $192,260.
Fairbanks (Pickford’s husband) — Stocks, $1,384,690; foreign trusts, $236,760; and real estate, $70,170.

Miss Dorothy Keopple has recently returned from the National convention of Beta Delta in Memphis, where she was re-elected National Secretary of Beta Delta Sorority for the third year.
Miss Keopple is a member of Eta Chapter, Little Rock. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Keopple, 1408 West Seventeenth.
Oakland park pool, always a popular spot during the hot summer months, was filled to capacity on July the Fourth with picnickers and swimmers.

STAR CITY — Anthrax, a bacteria that affects cattle, horses, sheep, goats and people, has been found on a Lincoln County farm, according to Conley Byrd, a staff state veterinarian.
The farm of J.T. Frizzell of Star City has been placed under quarantine, in effect for at least three weeks.

What power our elected officials have! The mayor can decide someone’s pet is “vicious,” seize it, and do away with it. And yet, convicted drunk drivers are in their automobiles on our streets, felons walk freely among us out on bail or awaiting “appeals,” but this POWER is helpless to protect its citizens from such situations that endanger all of us.
Where are we — and where are we headed?
