Jefferson county’s first rest camp for undernourished children will begin operation Monday in the grove adjoining the archery court at Memorial Park with 30 children as patients.
Mrs. Jessie McGuire will be matron in charge and she will be assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Cason.
Bill Carr, a native son of Pine Bluff and student in the University of Pennsylvania, tied the Olympic record for the 400-meter race in the semi-final trials in Los Angeles yesterday.

Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, 67, was seen kissing his 23-year-old bride, Cathleen Curran Heffernan of Portland, Oregon, after their wedding last night in a Los Angeles suburb.
The bride is a sociology student at Maryhurst College, a school for women, near Portland.

A male infant was found dead in a dumpster sometime early Friday afternoon near the intersection of Dollarway and Rhinehart Roads, by children who were looking for aluminum cans, according to Lt. Sam Dockery of the Pine Bluff Police Department.
Dockery said the infant was white, but Jefferson County Coroner Havis Hester said he could not be positive of the newborn’s race.
