Ministers and lay people gathered at different locations Saturday to worship and pray across Pine Bluff.

As a part of The Pine Bluff Clergy Intercessory Prayer Fellowship’s Annual Day of Prayer Together, the group prayed for business, government, family, fellowship and unity.

They also bowed their heads to celebrate and continue Pine Bluff’s six month reduction in crime.

About 25 residents gathered at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church at 717 W. 32nd Ave. to offer their prayers aloud on the subject.

“We want to just rejoice in this town,” said Rev. Jesse Turner, coordinator of the city’s Weed and Seed program.

“Some say it was the policemen. Some say it was residents’ involvement. But I say it was God,” he said.

The group sang and heard a Psalms reading from Rev. Edna Morgan of Healing Place Ministries.

“See how the wars are ceasing in our city,” she said. “He’s going to hear our prayers.”

Worshippers also visited First Assembly of God at 1002 Ridgway Road and the Jubilee Christian Center at 5103 W. Malcomb Ave. in the morning.

After concentrating on crime reduction, they stopped at the Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ at 800 S. Apple St. and ended the day at Immanuel Baptist Church at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Hickory Street.
