Police vice and narcotics officers served two drug related search warrants at different locations Monday and Tuesday two arrests after drugs and other items were found.

After court hearings Wednesday, Circuit Judge Berlin Jones ruled prosecutors had probable cause to charge Amber Curry, 18, with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unauthorized use of property to facilitate a crime, based on an affidavit from Detective Kenneth Evans.

The judge set a $25,000 bond for Alvin Battles, 32, after ruling prosecutors could charge Battles with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of ecstasy with intent to deliver, possession of drugs and firearms, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and with being a felon in possession of a firearm because of prior convictions.

Deputy Prosecutor Rik Ramsey said Curry was arrested Monday when detectives served a warrant at 609 W. 27th Ave., at 10:23 p.m.

He said officers found a brown cigar wrapper with a green vegetable substance believed to be marijuana on a living room table, a large bag containing several smaller bags of the same vegetable substance in a bedroom, another bag containing loose vegetable material, digital scales and sandwich bags in the southwest bedroom.

Ramsey said the vegetable substance field tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and weighed 35 grams. Officers also found documents with Curry’s name and address on them inside the residence.

Curry told the court she would hire her own attorney.

In Battles’ case, Ramsey said he was arrested Tuesday after detectives served a warrant at 2512 N. Lane St.

Detective Jack Hendon reported that officers found a bag containing 80 multi-color pills that field tested positive for ecstasy on a bedside table, a bag containing one gram of cocaine, a loaded .22-caliber pistol, a loaded .9-millimeter pistol on top of a dresser, and a set of digital scales.

Ramsey said Battles has numerous convictions, and was placed on probation for 36 months in 2007 on drug related charges.

Battles also told the court he would hire his own attorney.
