WILLIAM OWENS

William T. "Bill" Owens, 74, of Pine Bluff, died Friday at the White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in White Hall. Mr. Owens was born January 11, 1935, in Crossett, Arkansas, a son of the late William Travis and Margurette Gullege Mask Owens.

Mr. Owens was reared and received his education in Crossett and Hamburg.

He was a meat cutter for the Kroger Company from 1952-1993. He worked at Kroger stores in Star City, Pine Bluff, Dumas, Little Rock, Brinkley, and El Dorado, Arkansas.

Mr. Owens was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class there, and the Randall Hunting Club. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954-1956.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Rodgers Owens, whom he married February 21, 1958, in Pine Bluff; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Patrick Owens and Jennifer Owens of Cleveland, Mississippi, and Jerry William Owens and Paula Owens of White Hall; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy G. Beavers and Russ Beavers of Little Rock, Sandra K. Owens Starnes and Kenneth Starnes of White Hall, Tammy Jo Owens Dutton and Kip Dutton of Star City, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, Ashleigh Green, Tiffany Camp, Megan Dutton, Erin Starnes Walker, Zach Starnes, Jared Dutton, Spencer Owens, Will Owens, Valerie Beavers, Stephanie Beavers; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Claire Owens Camp.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank R. Owens and Charles V. Owens, and a granddaughter, Hannah Grace Owens.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Dr. Todd Howard officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Jefferson County. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday.

The family wishes to give special recognition and heartfelt thanks to Lake Jordan, Mr. Owens' Hospice care giver. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hospice Home Care of Pine Bluff, 3063 W. 28 Ave., Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

The family will be at the home of Sandra Starnes, 1317 Turtle Cove in White Hall.
