SPECIAL TO THE COMMERCIAL
A Jefferson Regional Medical Center Healthy Lifestyles grant has been awarded to the Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas Inc.
The funds will be used to buy a new piece of exercise equipment for 12 senior centers operated by the agency and also to purchase educational brochures about fall prevention and management.
“It’s wonderful to see local organizations pull together to help the communities they serve,” said Betty Bradshaw, president and chief executive officer Area Agency.
The equipment was developed and designed by an orthopaedic joint reconstruction surgeon and physical therapist, specifically to assist people with balance problems, to perform independent weight bearing exercises and rehabilitation. The equipment will allow seniors to exercise their entire bodies in a safe manner.
Area Agency invites people 60 and older to visit a senior center at 801 E. Eighth Ave. and 624 Kiwanis Drive.
The agency will also have a booth at Senior Day at the Southeast Arkansas District Fair, Livestock Show and Rodeo on Oct. 1 at Hestand Stadium and people see some of the services offered and receive educational material on a variety of different subjects.
