Fire of undetermined origin gutted three offices at Southeast Junior High School early today and forced cancellation of classes. Pine Bluff police and firemen are investigating the possibility that the fire was set.
Pine Bluff police reported today that 40 arrests had been made over the weekend for various charges.
NEW YORK — Jacqueline Susann, whose “Valley of the Dolls” was one of the best-selling novels in publishing history, died Saturday night in Doctors Hospital of the cancer she had been fighting throughout her writing career.
She was 53.
CHICAGO — Walter Brennan, 80, veteran character actor and three-time Academy Award winner, died Saturday of emphysema in California.
Officers of the Pine Bluff High School Choir Parents have been named.
They are: Dr. and Mrs. L.M. Lynch, presidents; Dr. and Mrs. John H. McClanahan, first vice presidents; Mr. and Mrs. Fred James, second vice presidents; Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGehee, third vice presidents; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hervey, secretaries; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gandy, treasurers; and, Mr. and Mrs. Marc Oudin, parliamentarians.
