BREAKING NEWS: JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY INVOLVED IN FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT

Jefferson County authorities are investigating a pedestrian accident involving a sheriff’s deputy.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. Friday morning on U.S. 79 just north of Pine Bluff.

Authorities say the officer was traveling northbound when a man walked out in front of the patrol car. It is believed the person was just leaving a nightclub.

No names are being released at this time and the deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
