BONDS SET IN TUESDAYS DRUG BUST

Two Pine Bluff men arrested Tuesday after police vice and narcotics officers and the Tri-County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 7300 Rosswood Road will have to post $50,000 bonds to be released from the county detention center after a court hearing Wednesday.

Circuit Judge Berlin Jones set the bonds after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Donyada Collins, 29, and Marcus Dorn, 28, with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, unauthorized use of property to facilitate a crime, and distribution near certain facilities, based on an affidavit from task force Investigator John Hughes.

Officers seized approximately $40,000 worth of crack cocaine, marijuana with an estimated street value of $6,000, a vehicle, and a large amount of cash.

Deputy Prosecutor Rik Ramsey said investigators found documents inside the house with both Collins and Dorn’s names on them, along with clothing in a closet that had laundry tags with Dorn’s name on them.

Hughes reported that the owner of the property told investigators that he had rented the house, which is located within 1,000 feet of St. Joseph High School, to Collins about a month ago.

Ramsey said Collins is on probation from the 5th Division of Circuit Court on drug related charges, and the judge told Ramsey to notify that division of the latest allegations so they can begin proceedings to revoke that probation.

Collins and Dorn told the court they would hire their own attorneys.

Also Wednesday, Judge Jones ruled prosecutors had probable cause to charge Kelvin Potter, 41, and Terrance Potter, 24, with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia, based on an affidavit from vice and narcotics Detective Sharon Reed.

Ramsey said vice and narcotics officers and the drug task force served a search warrant last Friday at 1509 W. Vaugine St. and detained both men while the search was conducted.

Reed reported that investigators found approximately four grams of crack cocaine, digital scales and sandwich bags, a .12-gauge shotgun and a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun in the house, along with documents showing that both Kelvin Potter and Terrance Potter lived there.

Ramsey said Kelvin Potter has more that four prior felony convictions and prosecutors would file felon in possession of a firearm charges against him in this case. He said Terrance Potter has two pending drug related cases stemming from arrests in 2008.

Both Kelvin Potter and Terrance Potter had already posted bond on the allegations when they appeared before Judge Jones. Kelvin Potter was being held at the detention center on misdemeanor charges, while Terrance Potter was being held for violating a time pay agreement, reportedly owing $1,700 in old fees and fines.
